julienbrellier
Not writing this one off. We can take something from this match if everybody performs. Looks like Naisy is back, but Souttar maybe not so on that basis I would go: El Gato Smith Berra Halkett Hickey Whelen/Irving Damour Clare Naismith Mulraney Washington

smiler
I'm not writing it off either OP, but with the filthy ****ers playing the victim card again I suspect we'll get a right shafting from the officials. Hope I'm wrong though and we have a good go at them and get treated fairly by the ref. Can't see Naismith starting this but I'm looking forward to it. upgotheheads
I hope we don't start with Naismith. The last thing we need is another injury in a game which we're unlikely to get anything from anyway. Might be worth having him on the bench though just in case we're in with a shout with 20 minutes to go. Souttar we have cover for so give him another week. Sub4TiddlerMurray
Common sense to prevail, Whelan in for Jamie. Naismith, Doyle, White, Uche & Soutar on the bench. maroonshrew
Id be surprised to see any other combo in the middle of the park other than Whelan and Damour. Away from home against stronger opposition feels like the exact reason we have two tough tackling defensive minded midfielders in the squad. I think they'll both start to try and spoil play. Get him closing them down in their half - they don't like that. Irving and Whelan could sit and hold and let him be free just to use his energy, along with Mulraney, Washington and Naismith (or Clare if no NS). LIke it. Wonder if Damour is the type that might smash a couple in from distance this season.

Romulus
Not sure i'd start with Naismith for this one. We have some much bigger games coming up that we are far more likely to take points in and it would be better if he was fully recovered for those. Mulraney on the right because Celtics weakness is at Left back and Mulraney coming in off the left with pace will test their deputy (McGregor maybe) positionally, and also create space by coming in off the right for Smithy on the overlap. The reasons I’d play Damour advanced is the exact same reasons that you’ve stated. High press, plus he can play a bit. Either Damour in that position or play Andy Irving as a #10 playmaker. Get that with Mulraney, but I think he'd protect Hickey against Forrest more than Naismith would - he'd play inside. Don't want Mulraney pushed back, but he'd be better doubling up when needed and could even push Celtic back on that side of the pitch as they'd need to worry about his pace, so maybe Forrest wouldn't get so much backing. Flimsy
The personnel should be dictated by the tactics, which have to be a high press. This has been a success three times against them in two years, while a passive approach guarantees they will have loads of space and chances. High energy and fit midfielders and attackers please.
