Interesting to see that he spoke to Levein before signing for Cardiff.

Glowing recommendations from Clevid & Dr Funk too.

Interesting indeed. Levein quoted on our official Hearts website saying he wanted him at the time Cardiff signed him. Pretty confusing, given the number of times we’ve been told that it’s a misconception he decided on our signings at that time, and it was all Cathro’s fault...

Anyway, seems like a good signing and I look forward to seeing him. There was serious lack of experience in midfield, but he helps plug the gap. The length of the contract scares me, mind.

Not really confusing. As DoF Levein was responsible for identifying and recommending possible targets for the manager to choose from. Not sure he'd recommend a player he didn't want.

Your prediction on the STV news prior to 19/05/12 was magnificent (and fantastically accurate)

Still seething McPake made a mug of me tbh.

I've watched a few youtube videos of him (i know i know) I think we could be on to a winner with this one, better than Djoum.

He's quick, good feet, great at winning the ball and his tackles are clean. Very good weighted passes and also looks like he can get forward, so not just a defensive minded midfielder.

Agreed. Find out in a few hours. Red card nap!

That’s how I’d expect a DoF to operate, but it is confusing to me, as frequently any suggestion that Levein bore any responsibility for signings has been shot down (both by people on here and himself). We apparently weren’t signing players who Levein wanted, but only players Cathro (or Neilson) wanted. Of course, there may have been overlap. But anyway, that sort of thing has been discussed to death.

Welcome Loic.

Looking forward to see how he gets on today if he plays. Although I'm working so it'll be commentary for me :(

He would've spoken to Levein no matter how the recruitment system worked.

In reality each player comes a slightly different way.  Alexander recommends Sow, Clevid brokers a deal for his old neighbour to come from Cardiff, McPhee arranges Lafferty, Levein arranges Gomis/Buaben/Berra/Naismith, Robbo gives us Mulraney.

I think whoever is managing the team decides on the signings but I'd say Levein as DoF completely arranged some of them (Souttar).  I.e. from conception to completion.  Which isn't an issue.

If Levein scours the market for the best weed, negotiates a price and then delivers it to my house with my agreement - what is the problem?  It just gives me more time to smoke it.....

Indeed. But this goes against what many people have argued, that’s my point.

Unless I’m wrong it could simply be a matter of the language he’s used. The manager at the time would have identified who he’d like to sign and my understanding of the role, would mean the DoF then takes over the negotiation and the travel arrangements etc. Hence, CL would then be in the position where ‘he’ is trying to sign the player.

Lord Beni of Gorgie

Just been watching Championship review of 17/18 on Sky by pure coincidence. Within a minute of switching on our boy appears robbing a man in midfield lovely reverse pass and a goal.

Featured more with headers tackles pressure.

This guy is going to be a legend.

Probably is in the language, yes, as usual. That’s all most of us have to go on. In this case, given things people - including Levein - have previously insisted, I found his quotes on the official site a bit confusing.

Anyway...look forward to seeing Damour play. People are framing him as a replacement for Djoum, so hopefully we get as good a four-year spell out of him.

Watched this video and was blown away. Not only brilliant at winning the ball but seems adept and making defence splitting passes.

He’s strikes me as being a good Joachim Adao. Instead of fouling someone and getting a red card he gets the ball, instead of passing it out of play he passes it to a team mate. Ideal

4 mins 16 secs, clearly knows where the ball is going before the attempted pass is even made.

Promising stuff.

Quick direct accurate movement of the ball every time. Something we've lacked for what seems like a lifetime. Good feelings about this dude. I Loic it!

Spins bit of skill, switch of play, links,  tackle,  vision. Poor finish by look of it but that's Naismiths job.

Uses his body well too

Naismith in front.

I thought people generally argued that Levein (as DoF) didn't decide who to sign which doesn't go against anything I said.

I've never read anyone arguing that Levein had no literal involvement whatsoever in transfers and that Neilson/Cathro would handle the arrangments/discussions/etc.

That seems similar to arguing Budge doesn't look at the accounts.

Sad reality is that almost all of those well timed tackles will be stick on fouls and yellow cards with the jokers in black up here.  Just hope his head doesn’t go down when this inevitably happens.

What formation would you play and who would you drop if we added another striker? It isn't about adding one player who is going to grab the mythical 20 goals. It is about adding goals all over the pith.

Halkett 5+

Walker 10+

Naismith 10+

Washington 10+

Added to the goals already in the squad from last season that will make a massive difference. Perhaps a challenge to Aberdeen for 3rd place which is the realistic target.

As it stands, I wouldn’t play Uche.

It is also for the squad as well as when Maclean and Wighton are required, they aren’t going to be good enough as we have already seen.

Naismith, Washington and Walker will have a field-day with this boy in the middle. His ability to win the ball and find a runner will cause teams all sorts of problems.

Looking at the accounts is a bit of a dud analogue for scouring the market for the best weed.

Almost all of his shots seem on target but lack venom. Maybe get a few goals with the poorer quality of keeper up here compared to EPL and English Championship. Very excited about this lad signing.

Just hope he doesn’t turn up 30 stone😭

Looked closer to 10 stone in his HeartsTv interview. Very trim and athletic, also done a full pre season and isn’t (currently) injured.

Folk need to watch Uche when other Hearts players are scoring goals. Whether it is intentional or accidental he creates loads of space and panic in defences. This has been utilised by Halkett and Naismith to steal in and score headed goals. He also provided a brilliant assist for Walker last weekend. He is a great option to have

in our squad. If we could have Uche, Naismith, Lafferty and Washington- that would give us four very different options to unlock those tricky bottom six defences.

To me, he is a marque player.  Gets people off their seats.  Not too many of them in the pound.  Last one I can think of is Zeefuik.

Very glad we have him.

His tackling isn’t exactly great either. It sometimes lacks that bit of bite that could take the ball away from an opponent.”

Had to laugh at this.

Surely a Hibs fan put this together.

The original picture has this written under it...

Some geezer called Ben Banks who has worked in youth football and for the BBC with a strong knowledge of Scottish Football.Just reinforces my feeling that this will be great acquisition.

I am am fairly sure he signed Thursday and the papers went to the SFA then.

Signing announced yesterday. Approval to play already on the bag.
