If Naisy is in the team I feel a bit more confident. An optimistic 1-1, Walker to score.

Walker loves playing against them, looking forward to seeing Naismith effect on him, with Washington (if not Sunday) could form a very good 3 for movement.

Aberdeen have previous for a sluggish start with European commitments, get a decent side on the park, quietly confident we can get a result.

My guess for starting 11 based on CL's hint that we might see a back 3:

                        Bobby

     Soutar         Berra       Halkett

Smith   Walker    Clare    Naismith    Mulraney

                          Washington

                              Uche

Washington's eye thing won't keep him out I'm guessing. Hickey has been a wee bit shaky and Mulraney has been used before to nullify pace opposition attacks.

Howdy Doody Jambo

The Dons have a game tonight so might take the edge of them  but CL will probably say we might not be quite up to speed

1-1

Defo got goals in that team. Shame to drop young Hickey though. Also reckon we'll play with a sitting midfielder

Hackett could play centrally (with Berra on the left side) to allow him to step forward

Just be like Hearts to respond to a week of criticism.

Apart from recent times we’ve had a generally good record up there over the years.

Sheep. 1-2. Hearts

I'll go for a 1-2 away win with goals from Halkett and Walker. I'm expecting a much improved performance following the betfred cup games and with Aberdeen having also played in Europe on Thursday Night.

To be pedantic as well, for the new season can we have a resolution that the match threads need to have 'Heart of Midlothian' in the title rather than 'Hearts'. Thanks:thumbsup:

Assuming Washington is injured:

Bobby

Smith Souttar Berra Hickey

             Halkett

Walker Clare Naismith Mulraney

                Uche

Would rather not move halkett from CB but we are better with a back 4 and levein won't drop Berra. Also would be stupid to drop hickey at this point.

I think Halkett will be asked to be Haring.

Boaby; Smithy, Soapy, Skippy, Hickey; Craigy, Shauny, Andy; Naisy, Jakey, Jamey

Would take a 0-0 but if the defence is switched on we could maybe sneak a 0-0.

Difficult as we haven’t yet played our strongest team. Our strikers have been poor and for Naismith it’s his first competitive game for a while. Undecided on the result.

Cruyff Turn

I’d take a draw now, but there’s no reason why we can’t win.

Think the team will be

                         Bobby

          Souttar.  Berra.  Halkett

Smith.                                        Hickey

                Clare.        Irving

          Walker                 Naismith

                           Uche

Previously I said it would be a miracle if we got a point, the way we've been playing in the league cup.

Now with Naismith signed, if he plays, hoping for more.

0-1 Hearts... Naismith with the goal,

last minute

3-1 Hearts.

He has a face you would love to smack, coming from quite a passive chap :)

Yeah that's how I feel. Can see him starting on the bench and coming on in the 2nd half and scoring a hat trick.

Going for a 0 -1, think "The incredible Halkett" will score at a set piece.

Fcuk.

Superstitious shite it may be, but don;t think we've ever played well when we've been on Alba.

On another note, I see the ref is Don Robertson

Not good news for us, Robertson guilty of allowing assaults on Hearts players to take place at Tynecastle, let alone on tour.

No excuse though, its a mans game

Up there with Clancy and Dallas.

I long for the days when Collum was by far the worst.

He's not been that good for either team it seems.

Last year in games he reffed

Aberdeen P4, W1, D1, L2

Hearts P6, W2, D3, L1

1-1 - might sneak a win though if cosgrove is cancelled out by the defense as they rely too much on him to score ;)

What's your take on McKenna. Boy sitting next to me reckons its farewell tonight,  to be fair usually on the pulse

Bazzas right boot

This fixture has favoured the home team in recent years.

However, the first game of the season is the perfect time to change that, if there is such a time.

First goal crucial.

Really hard to judge with it being the first game of the season.

What is a given is that it will be a battle, Aberdeen have been pretty brutal in recent seasons.

2-0 Aberdeen or 2-0 us.

Id go -

GK - Zlamal

RCB - Souttar

CB - Berra

LCB - Halkett

RWB - Smith

LWB - Hickey

CM - Irving

CM - Clare

RF - Walker

CF - Washington

LF - Naismith

If Washington is out Naismith central & bring Mulraney in.

1-0 Naismith

There's a few rumours his last game will be on Sunday.

We're struggling for defenders at the moment. McInnes said he likes to run with 7, yet we have 6 with 2/3 injured at the moment (Devlin,Taylor and Leigh???). The 7th defender would likely be Hoban, but he's not going to be fit till Oct / November

Leigh might be back tonight, but still, it leaves us with no cover (Devlin and Taylor out with Hamstrings, so still a few weeks away from return)

The English transfer deadline is next Friday (09th), so I can see him playing against Hearts and then going if a deal is already concluded. We'd still need cover though.
