For info it's a MkV VW golf GTI and I think it may be either gear box or clutch bearings that's the problem. Looking to get booked in for 29 July if possible. I could recommend somewhere in the eastern Borders but that'd probably not be much use to you if you were wanting somewhere in the city. SUTOL Posted July 17, 2019 Share Posted July 17, 2019 (edited) I usually take my Golf to Balerno Garage, but I stay local. AVW Autocentre (Gilmerton Road) are a Audi/VW independent specialist. As are Autohaus at Loanhead. I was going to get work done at AVW, but they were/are very busy and I managed to get the work (gearbox oil change) done by Western VW for the same price. Posted July 17, 2019 Share Posted July 17, 2019 I used AMK in west Calder last time,the guy done a good job and labour charges were alot less than I was expecting I cant mind exactly his rate but I'm sure he's the cheapest mechanic I've used.
