This place was always tasty

Can anyone put me out my misery.......I seem to remember Alan Anderson getting sent off in 1st half of a 2 - 0 defeat for a stamp on Alex Ferguson at Brockville, or is this just my mind playing silly beggers?

Another game that springs to mind there was Arthur Thomson playing centre forward as we were on a run of about 6+ games without a goal. It was a midweek match, lost 2 - 1, Arthur did NOT score or play centre forward again!!

Hedging your bets there Dave with the ?:whistling:

I remember a 6 - 3 defeat there, another flashback to 50+years ago like the Annfield teaser I posed.

Only time I was there ( early 80s) Hearts scored 7 goals I think.

Thanks

That was in my thoughts, more from playing colours & ballboy behind the goal.

Not helped by early picture being identified as Boghead, but is the 2nd picture taken from a different angle (obviously!!)?

Good fun, gets the brain cells working & lots of (happy) memories from following HMFC since January 1964:thumbsup:

Its not @Maroon Sailor's modus operandi, he likes to tease us and make us work. Prolific and great poster on the Edinburgh History thread in the shed

How are you pronouncing prolific?

What was unique about Annfield?

For me, it is the only Scottish football ground I ever played a full match on.

Muirton Park. One of my favourite grounds as a youngster. Saw some great Hearts games there over the years.

First away game, lost 3-2

That wasn’t unusual for a few years. We had a habit of going two nil up then losing three goals there.

A real dump of a place. I was told a story a few years ago by a referee who had officiated there that sums it up. The dressing rooms and showers were like something from the dark ages he said, and when he got home and unpacked his gear a rat jumped out of his bag.

Most telling thing about this, was I gathered it was Airdrie from the British flag on the grand stand, before I even noticed there was a diamond on it too.

👍🏼 I was meaning the dressing rooms and general guts of the place. Corridors with that 80s style fake wood laminate on the walls

Just thinking what grounds in Scotland I have been in that are no longer football grounds

Annfield, Boghead, Muirton, Kilbowie, Broomfield, Douglas Park, Meadowbank, now i’m toiling

to think of any other grounds. Oh aye Love Street, Brockville,  Shawfield.
