Yep let's move someone else out of position in a position he excels in to cover our managers inability to build a squad capable of covering the blindingly obvious .

No really delighted about it but needs must sometimes. See Mikey Smith playing all over the shop.

I know the date.  My reply was to the suggestion you’ve quoted me for.  I’ve every confidence a couple more will be brought in.

So am I allowed to be excited about Zanatta or not? 🤔

Yes, by all means you are.  Because we can take stuff from friendlies either good or bad 👍

Ah well, at least you know now. 👍🏻

It’s no wonder the first two years of these group stages have been full of upset after upset. It’ll be the same this year no doubt. Teams just aren’t up to speed.

No wonder they are full of upsets if we treat them like “glorified pre-season games”!!! 🤪

Had a quick wee look and the following teams failed to get out of their group in recent seasons:

16/17

Kilmarnock, Ross County, Dundee

17/18

Hearts, Inverness, St Mirren (Killie scraped through as 4th best runner up)

18/19

Hamilton, Inverness, Dundee Utd

No surprise really given how early these matches take place

Hamilton, Inverness and Dundee United!

WOW!!!! 😳

What's the point of having academy if we not going to play the kids ? Look at Celtic for example! Didn't hesitate to throw in Tierney, McGregor, Forrest from young age and they stayed in given chance

The young guns will get their chance when they are ready and that is up to Levein.

This is a probably a sign of how this season is going to go. That’s injury concerns with Haring, Walker and even Wighton from last night already - quite frustrating it has to be said.

Even if Haring wasn't injured we should be bringing someone in with Djoum and Lee going.

Spot on. You wonder why Levein isn’t proactive in bringing a quality midfielder even if it costs a few bob.

Hearts have money investing in a 24-25 year old could prove to be good business and good for the team.

Really???

Edwards aside (unknown) I would expect us to be firmly in the bottom 6 is that was our options.

We have too much quality in the rest of the team for that

as I said it’s not exactly a great 3

but hopefully haring will get fit and we have Naismith and Walker too

Well said. We always seem to be short in a couple of positions. It is the managers job to have cover for all positions and

our manager has had plenty of time to achieve this.

Didn't realise clubs had to release daily updates as to whom they are scouting, & how the negotiations are going, in order to satisfy the fans' that the club is doing something to bring in a player or two.

Maybe this is the way forward, in helping utter ****ing spoons and their over-reactionary hyperbolic shite, that pervades football fora up & down the land.

Who knows.

It's called PR,something that Hearts are awfull at these days.

Time will tell, but we do need a Mulumbu.

Our first competitive match is on Friday. Our squad should be ready, every player should know what

is required, the players should know the way they are expected to play in a few systems, confidence

should be high and right from kick-off the team has to show that this season we’re going to attack by

using their strengths. Over to our manager Craig Levein to give us a team to be proud of.

Couldn't agree more, mitch.

I cannot understand people saying it's a pre-season game. To my way of thinking it's the first step toward possibly winning a trophy we haven't won since I was a seven year old.

That was a long time ago.

The 27th October 1962 10 days after my 9th birthday. Norris Davidson scoring in a 1-0 win over Kilmarnock at Hampden.

Yes it’s been too long since we won the Scottish League Cup. I must admit I thought the St Mirren Final a few years ago

was the day we were going to do it.

Don’t accept it then.  He was signed as a defender.  Why would you be surprised considering the amount of randoms that have been signed based on whyscout? Now we have scouting network connections all of a sudden? Why would they have had doubts he would be a decent defender, the position be signed up for but found his best position in midfield when covering.  Who cares regardless, point is we’ve been short and weak in that area and it’s still not been addressed, even lighter now with Djoum gone.

Whatever you say. Keep on and you might even convince yourself.

We might even sign Stevie May - he's free, is he not?

We could convert him into a MF.

One thing about Wallace Mercer he certainly kept Hearts in the news and more importantly

kept the fans in what was going on.

PR's when there are announcements to be made. Not to keep slavering goons happy every 5 minutes, to keep their fantasy alive that club's are just sat on their arse playing Candy Crush in the office.

If folk want a PR mouthpiece, I'd suggest watching FOX News.

I'm not sure a they are slavering goons, more that they are concerned with the state of the team and after the last few seasons fans have every right to question the management.

Hearts in the news then: Scotsman in the morning, EN at 12pm, Forth football news at lunchtime, Reporting Scotland at tea time, Pink New on Saturdays, Sunday papers for match reports, match program, fanzines, occasional Shoot or Match article, ClubCall if you're feeling flush and are desperate for anything Hearts related, Ceefax if you're really desperate and bored

Hearts in the news now: All the blinking time, every day all day, everywhere!

No, there's a lot of slavering goons. Quite comfy with that analysis.

Difference in questioning, to demanding. If people can't trust the club to work diligently & professionally behind the scenes in identifying & trying to sign the required standard of player, and then judge the club (whatever club) once the picture becomes clearer then it says more about them, than the club.

Failing that, we'll get a ouija board out to contact Wallace, shall we? That'll make Mitch happy at least.

I prefer Wibblers. Wibble factor is very high today!

Maybe told him to ice it or gave him a Motrin. Or are we still doing nothing to help him. Scandalous.

Is it just me who is seriously worried about our centre midfield for the coming season?!

A holding mid struggling to shake off a long term injury, two largely unproven youngsters & a bunch of guys who are mid table players...

No I am concerned also. It is looking very much like Walker and Clare as the central two with Haring or possible replacement in behind them.

The other options will be Bozanic, Cochrane and Irving. I don;t have a probelm with one or two of the younger guys playing but it needs to be alongside a seasoned pro who can protect them and show them the ropes.

It is a worry. We can't have more than one of the youngsters in the engine room, unless they have at least one very experienced guy alongside them as well as the likes of Nasimith in front. I think Michael Smith can come in and do that mind you, but I'd be amazed if we didn't sign at least one more experienced midfielder if Djoum and Lee are both away and Haring is out for a bit.

Assuming we play one up, a midfield of Mulraney, Smith, Cochrane, Clare, Walker should be good enough for the LC games at least, with Cochrane and Smith maybe in behind Mulraney, Clare and Walker. With Edwards, Irving, Bozanic in reserve, maybe Washington if he can play wide behind Uche. We really need a pacey impact sub though, bit like Billy King used to be. We also really, really need Naismith back to link everything together!

On paper you may be correct but I think Clare really needs to step up this season and show if he has what it takes. Last season he had the odd moments where he did quite well with assists and scored six goals I think but he wasn't involved enough in the majority of games which you need to be if playing in a central mid role.

Walker is so injury prone as he has shown already that he can't be counted on to be a regular starter which really just leaves the young guys unless we sign someone else.

Haring is a worry because we don't really know how long he is going to be out for  and we are still in the dark with Naismith and even if he does sign what are his fitness levels like? I doubt he will be anywhere ready to play anytime soon either.

Not sure why we need to resort to playing our right back in centre mid when we have Clare, Bozanic, Edwards, Cochrane, Irving, Burns and Halkett all available? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Daza is away looking for Darren Murray with a measuring tape, I expect/ hope Irving is given the role, he can pass the ball better than Haring which obviously helps.

Aye Chairman Wallace saved us and played a huge part in our revival in the 80s but lets not make things up just to have a pop at the current regime.

Peter Haring is one of the first names on our team sheet and i’d of thought he’d be given the best

consultant & medical treatment available. Given that this injury has persisted for over 6 months

and with all the technology at Riccarton we’ve keep hearing about the lad must be really pissed

off. Fingers crossed this consultant he’s away to see can get to the bottom of this injury.
