With Conor Washington looking likely to sign, I thought I would see which Hearts players who share a surname with a US president.

I make it 15 presidents who have at least 1 Hearts player with the same surname (according to London Hearts.)

How many can you get (name of the president and a player who shares the name)

Not great at US history but we must have had a Kennedy on our books at some time.

we have had one, but would be amazed if anyone got it without looking up as he played in 1875

Must have been a Carter at some point. Obviously Donald Ford is on the list.

Can't think of a Nixon.

Lyndon B. Johnson. We've had Bjorn Johnsen, and Allan and Maurice Johnstone. Feel we must have had a Johnson but not come up with him yet.

We need Bush at Tynie. We've had a wilson or twenty, guaranteed. Defo a Jackson and Ford and surely a Nixon and Kennedy somewhere somehow. Why has my mind went blank, I'm normally good at US presidents. Roosevelt's too weird a name, so's Trump and Obama, Eisenhower, Hoover as well, all unlikely. Bound to have had a Harrison (tommy?) Doubt a Taft, prbably a McKinley, almost definitely a Taylor, but probably not a Garfield or Cleveland, although possible. Defo Johnson. I'm done

The Z got me thinking of Zachary Taylor. Have Hearts had a player called Taylor?

Other common-ish surnames I’ve no seen mentioned:

Ulysses S. Grant (must’ve had a Grant?)

William Henry Harrison (Tommy)

Benjamin Harris?

Gerald Ford (Donaldo)

Jimmy Carter?

Used to know them all, but surely a chance we’ve had someone with the name Grant, Harris or Carter?

Edit: Oops, missed Stephen Muddle’s post. Good work there. ?
