The draw for the first round takes place at 12:30 on Wednesday and will be streamed by the SPFL on Youtube.

Hearts Colts will be in the northern half of the first round draw, and will play against one of the sides from the Highlands or Albion Rovers (someone's geography needs improving as Kelty is a tad further north).

? Looks like for the purposes of this cup Cove are being classed as a Highland League team.

4 Highland teams in north draw and 4 Lowland teams in south draw.

Geography seems fine to me ?‍♂️

The reality for season 2019/20 is that Cove is an SPFL side and Berwick a LL side. It means there are three SPFL sides in the North draw and only one in the South.  Switch Albion Rovers for Kelty or BSC Glasgow (play out of Alloa) and the draw is balanced.

I get where you’re coming from FF as the same question is raised every year regarding the League Cup using seeding based on the previous year.

The anomaly in the Irn Bru Cup is that it doesn’t apply to Ross County/Dundee.

Nice.  There are only 3 grounds in Scotland that I have never visited and Albion Rovers are one of them.  Will need to go to this.

I can assure you that Cliftonhill isn't the most salubrious ground I've been to.

That's okay.  Surely cant be much worse than Central Park.  Just need to tick it of my list.  East Fife and Annan will be the remaining two.

So we could have a team of:

                      Doyle (overage)

Brandon Hamilton Petkov Burns

Morrison Cochrane Irving Zanatta (overage)

          Henderson Keena

Subs: Mason, Hickey, Baur, C. Smith, Currie, Ritchie, McDonald

Obviously with the league cup game two days later, some will be that selection. But to me, all bar two of that starting XI has had more than 10 senior games. And apart from that two they have played their games above the level of league two.

A Caramel Wafer contains more brain cells and is better looking than that bellend on the left hand side. Man is a complete cock rocket.

The Natural Order

So let me get this right.

Hearts and Hibs Colts, both from Edinburgh, are in the North section but Spartans, also Edinburgh, are in the South section and to make it even better Kelty, Fife, are also in the South section.

When and how did Edinburgh end up north of Fife????

Scottish Football at its best.

Sigh!

This is akin to those who get all upset when the 7th placed team finishes with more points than the 6th place team.

6 colt teams go in the north.

6 colt teams go in the south.

Top 4 Highland teams go in the north.

Top 4 lowland teams go in the south.

The bottom 4 Division 4 teams are evenly split as best as can be.

FF has a reasonable point on whether the seeding should be based on this season or last but the way they split up north and south really isn’t that complex.

Not being complex doesn't stop it being a load of shite.

Challenge Cup was brought in to help the income of the clubs.

Now perhaps more where experiments are conducted.

Those who win it don't seem to mind.

I can walk to Cliftonville from the hoose, so a few pints in big Owen's (pub nearest the ground) then along to the match via a complimentary ticket from the home side.

I see the spurious accusations, that Peter Lawwell would never open the biscuit tin, have proven false!
