I hardly know anybody outside of a few Americans who were suckered by the Bush administration tbh. I reckon we all knew him and Blair were absolute shysters, and  no amount of western media support could disguise that hard fact.

The American lies about weapons of mass destruction fooled lots of people and lots of governments.  Twenty-three (23) different countries sent troops to invade Iraq along with the Americans.

The point of my earlier post is that such a coalition won't happen against Iran.

I'd hazard that 'diplomatic pressure' played as much of a part as any WMD fibs in convincing many of those twenty-three (23) countries to send troops to Iraq.

The point of your original post is probably spot on, though.

Didn't we send the Royal Marines to seize an Iranian tanker just off Gibralter a couple of weeks ago (on the orders of Trump)?

Yes.

Yes we did.

Yep. Seems the tanker is managed in Clydebank. They don't know what they are messing with 😉

British Special Forces may have to board that tanker to free hostages. If the Iranian Revolutionary Guard are the hostage takers, they would get slaughtered and if Iranian blood is spilled, then who knows how Iran will retaliate. 🤷‍♂️

They are goading the most powerful military alliance on earth to put on a fireworks display in Iran’s back garden. It’s not a fight they will win with their 1960’s tech.

UK, US and Europe all falling out just now.  Good way to make things worse by stirring things up.

Not a chance of this.    This has a reek of a proxy Russian action.     The Russia-Iran axis would love to draw a military response and also to to restart the gulf tanker 'cold war'.

Maybe, I’m sure they’ll go through the diplomatic channels first but if Iran is wanting something that we’re not willing to give them then the U.K. govt will have to do something to ensure U.K. citizens, business and interests are protected.

Over the Iran Deal, perhaps, but they are still and will always be allies when it comes to a scrap. Especially the U.K. and the US.

Looks like it has already started tbf. I don’t see a man like Trump being so Diplomatic if things continue to spiral upwards.

Iran want something they aren’t going to get.

Latest poll results show that 81% of Tory party members would rather have Brexit,    even if it meant nuclear escalation with Russia from gulf tensions.

This all comes from that orange buffoon in the shite house ripping up the nuclear deal all on his very ownsome.

EU mitigated what they could in order to save the deal but the USA imposed more sanctions.

This caused Iran to re-start their centrifuges.

USA then escalated by sending more warships to the Gulf and buzzing Iranian airspace with drones.

Iran has responded by trying to disrupt oil tanker traffic passing through their waters.

USA asked the UK to seize an Iranian tanker off Gibralter.

Iran seized 2 UK tankers today.

In a normal world, diplomats would then get around a table, hammer out a new deal and everything goes back to how it was.

In this current dystopian shite-pile, anything could happen.

Plenty warships that should be protecting tankers in that region. We've had ships on station out there for years to stop this kind of thing happening.

Something doesn't add up

About time Britain realise how low ranking a country they are.

It isn’t though, it’s just pathetically led. The UK is still one of the richest economies in the world, nuclear armed, part of NATO and has an advanced and well armed military.

The US, China, Russia, even France wouldn’t ‘allow’ this to happen but meek and pathetic British ‘leadership’ has.

Nothing changes. Was escorting British flagged tankers through the straits of Hormouz and the Peesian Gulf in the late 1980s. Where the Iranian weapon of choice was the Scud missile

At least we had a Royal Navy able to do escorting duties back then.
