As I'm getting older I'm getting more cynical. Is this why I'm thinking that it wouldn't surprise me if America actually instigated this attack to try and engineer a reason to start a war? Maybe I'm over thinking this.

So John Bolton has been agitating for war with Iran every since the Islamic Revolution.

He finally gets the big job that may let him do it.

Iran chooses this moment to attack oil tankers in the gulf.

Ok then.

Iran invites Japan to help broker peace.

Blows up one of Japans tankers.

Assad invited chemical weapon inspectors.

And launches a chemical weapon attack.

Not for the first time, I totally agree with you. And there's a woman rotten in an Iranian jail because of Boris Johnson's big mooth.

Plus Jeremy Hunt is attacking Jeremy Corbyn for not believing the BS of DT.

You’re not over thinking it as it’s quite possible that scenario.

The Old Tolbooth

The emperor of Japan visits the leader of Iran for peace talks and trade possibilities, and Iran blow up an oil tanker heading to Japan, and people are expected to believe this?

Just America being scummy America again I'm afraid.

This is a good read

If it had sunk and gone down with all hands we would be in a war by now.

This has all the hallmarks of the Gulf of Tonkin.

I wonder if the False Flag department at the Pentagon just pulled out the USS Maddox file and said "this'll do".

The US has quite a fleet of these drones.

Nuclear capabilities.

Wonder how long before we see a nuclear strike used in false flag operation.

Would they whoever they are ?

Mines blowing holes in the side of ships above the water level.

I wonder if any other false flag attacks have been used to instigate wars in the middle east.

Does anyone really, really think that the USA wants to go to war with Iran?

What for?

it does not need their oil, nor their gas- and they don't export anything else really.

Like an actual boots-on-ground war in the middle east with Iran..........

I just don't buy it at all

You don't think that they and their regional allies have strategic/military aspirations. Have you considered why the USA has imposed sanctions on Iran? Do you think all the threatening of Iran they have done over the last few years might be a clue as to their attitude toward Iran. Could it be that they are smarting after their military defeat in the Syrian proxy war.

They are due a war anyway - this president hasn't started one and he needs to think about his re-election.

If the USA will go to war with Iraq and Syria on false prospectuses then why not Iran?

The USA wouldn't have a great time in a war against Iran fought over there. For a super power they can't fight. Fancy toys but that's about it.

any war many miles from home, in a country with an armed populace is difficult.

Regardless of why you are there, you are seen as a hostile invading force, and when kids start to die, and power/food/medicine starts to run out so does any good will.

Especially in  a country which, despite its despotic rulers is pretty safe for its population- any invaders will inevitably make the lot of the populace worse.

Indeed. The other aspect to this is what the Russians would do.

Oil price is a tad low for Saudi and the US. A wee war with the Persians would double the price.

:interehjrling: Scotland would be loaded.

This is not really true- OPEC could manipulate the price without any need for that

With the SNP threatening Ireland for fishing off Rockall, and your mini force over there is this the start of a new Scottish Empire?
