GT will be the main man now.

That's two big names injured for Ineos so far and out of the running for the grand tours.

Don't laugh but the accident occurred when he took his hands of the handlebars to blow his nose.....

Hmmm

Thomas and the young lad Bernal on the start line for the Tour de Suisse this Saturday, pre TdF warm up. I think Bernal could give Thomas a run for his money in this one.

I'd imagine though, if fit, Thomas will now be sole team leader for the TdF

Doesn't surprise me, he crashed on a downhill section into a wall. These guys do terrifying speeds on descents to the extent the camera bikes can't keep up with them. No body protection at all and Froome has a reputation for not being the best bike handler out there.

That's the Karma kicking in. They shouldn't be able to go that fast. The Yin and the Yang.

Just read it on the BBC site.

Obviously much more seriously injured than just a broken leg as first reported.

Hope he makes a full recovery.

Really?

What's he done so bad that a spell in intensive care is 'karma'? Just going fast on a bike, in a bike race?

4 ribs, right elbow, right femur.

He's really done a job on himself.

Interesting footage of earlier in his recce, putting his rain jacket on with both hands off the bars, even though his team-mate and team car both told him not to take the risk in the windy conditions.

😬😳

My other half fell off her bike a month ago at 20mph, & got 4 stitches in her temple, concussion & severe bruised ribs.

Can't imagine nearly double that. Christ. Glad there's no footage.

Well, I didn't realise that. But, at least he'll heel quicker.

Reports out of Spain that Juan Jose Cobo has been disqualified from the 2011 Vuelta a Espana for drugs offences.

This would then hand Froome the victory.

Even when he's in intensive care he's picking up Grand Tour wins.  :greggy:

All the dude's results from 2011-2019 have been invalidated.

Presumably, anybody who benefits from this will care, as will the record books.

Well... There's a few gonnae pick up some tours from froome. "Couldn't scratch his arse before 2012" says Wiggo. I wonder why? Did his asthma get worse.

Tick Tock!

Oh, and being treated in ICU for a broken leg. Wtf!

I came off me bike shooting downhill behind Haymarket, (****** tram lines). Must have been pretty spectacular cos punters came out of offices to help me out. Thank **** I was wearing a helmet. That was knackered but, other than a bit road rash I was one lucky fella. I never ride without my helmet.

Heart the size of a rugby ball means serious complications after injury or illness.

ICU after surgery on a broken femur, broken elbow and several broken ribs sounds pretty sensible to me.

Not forgetting the broken hip which of all the injuries is the one that will pose the biggest problem to any comeback.

Never really been able to take to Froome but holy shit - that injury list could be career-ending.

Very strange. You'd expect something like that to happen to some bawbag on a BMX, but not one of the best cyclists in the world.

Seems that as well as his femur, hip, elbow and ribs, Froome had also fractured a vertebra in his neck.

Some crash that, glad it wasn't on film.
