Very Shalamar.

I often stepped out in a pair of these...

...white socks, black or maroon sta-press topped off with perhaps a white tshirt and maroon Y cardigan.

Id be about 13/14 at the time.

Some styles are timeless.

Not sure mine were timeless but I sure had a few Nights to remember

No...no.....no man. Those shoes have never ever had a time.

Essential wear in the ska days to some, those or brogues. I’m glad to say I went down the brogues route. Stewart ones from Barrett’s on the High Street.

A guy I worked with rolled up to the office one day in the early 90s wearing a light coloured suit and slip on shoes thinking he was Don Johnson from Miami Vice. He was ripped mercilessly so much so that he went home at lunchtime and got changed. The gear was never seen again.

I worked with someone who had similar dress sense late 80's, had the Miami Vice look with the jacket sleeves rolled up but completed the ensemble with a pair of lemon yellow leg warmers.

Had a pair of these when I was 13. Thought I was the dogs danglies. Folks wouldn't let me wear them to school so put them in my school bag and got changed at the bottom of the stairs

Teacher clocked them in the corridor and shouted 'Where's your clubs Mr R?'

Never wore them to school again - bullying bar steward!

Didn't Levein wear a pair of these bad boys when he was summoned to the SFA for the Hogg incident?

That was part of the 'uncle' look. Usually accompanied with a pair of faded stonewash and battered Adidas Sambas.

Some of my "fashion" styles over the years have been amazing.

Stone wash denim Jean's so tight you could see the hairs of my legs through, bright and baggy shorts, a flat top hair style, a half arsed mini goatee, hi tek basketball boots with the laces tied behind the tongue, baggy Jean's with turn ups.

Out of all my fashion styles since the 80s, only 2 I can still pull off with style, a hearts top and a Levi's denim jacket.

Thought I looked pretty cool in this. Equipped with a navigation device in case I was buried under an avalanche or got lost walking home from school.

That wasn't me but if any of you thought you saw Sonny Crockett out and about in Edinburgh on a Friday or Saturday night in '84-'86-ish, you are sadly mistaken. It was only me.

It’s a tricky one for sure.

There has been a George Clooney thread, a sunbathing in a thong thread and an attending the cup final in skin tight white jeans and pumps thread.

It’s all very odd.

Me and a mate bought a packet of 12 clip on earrings one Saturday from Woolies for 99p.

Met the girlfriends that night ( now wives) and were greeted with this.

You two look ****** ridiculous get them out or we are away.

Both tempted to keep them in because a lads night was now on the cards but caved in to there demands eventually and have done ever since. ?

We used to refer to them as Broomie tartan in honour of the ridiculously clad fashionistas who populated the Broomhouse ghetto.
