Does anyone have any photos of any of the 3 versions of the 1982/83 away shirts ever being worn in games? I have seen press photos of the white short sleeved sponsored shirt and white un-sponsored long sleeved. The silver shirt with the white sponsor on it I have never seen any other photos other than a shirt in a private collection. So was it ever worn? Sorry also forgot to mention I had heard rumblings it might have been worn pre-season 1982/83 or even pre-season 1983/84 in friendlies. dannymack Posted June 6, 2019 Share Posted June 6, 2019 Pre season 82/83 we were down in the North East of England, Hearts wore the previous seasons kit for those three games against Blyth, North Shields and Whitley Bay. 1983/84 we were up North for a Highland tour, there are amateur pictures going around from that tour but I'm sure there was no reason for the away kit to be used as there was no colour clash, however I stand corrected on that. I see we were against Hamilton that season, not sure what happened strip wise in those games. All 3 examples of the away shirts I have seen have player / club only labels inside them. I'm not at home just now so not sure of the size but I would have been 19 and I'm six foot three so would have been an adult size. Unfortunately not as sylph like now so not sure I would fit into it. The Umbro player issue / club only / (whatever you want to call them) labels always had the sizes as Large, Mens, OS Mens (out sized mens) - that kind of thing. The ones sold to the public had the sizes in numbers (can't remember if centimeters or inches but think inches). I am sure yours is the group one right? You sent a few pictures of your excellent collection, There is another but can't remember if they are the same shirts Just for good measure a picture of a long sleeved players shirt owned by a good friend of mine.
