All roads lead to Gorgie

Scotland are keeping the ball for even less time than Hearts this season.

Still quite a bit behind the English in class but at least the effort is there. That can't always be said about the mens team.

Well, if that’s the new penalty claims then we are goosed, Should have stuck with hand plays ball or ball plays hand decisions

Players will just blast the ball at opponents now rather than try to cross to someone.

We will soon have shorts with pockets in them so players know where to put/keep their hands

Let's see how many of those handball two teams from Glasgow get away with next season.

Cuthbert has been disappointing so far and she is our main threat.

If the ball is going to hit you plum in the face it is an automatic response to shield your face with your hands, that is not a penalty. Leave the rules as they stand.

Talking of plumbs...... that wouldn’t be a penalty either

They'll get them, we won't and we'll be paying a fortune for the privilege.

Handball, particularly in the penalty area, has to be nailed down definitively. No more dubiety, interpretation or an opinion of a referee which is loaded with bias and/or fear of having his windows tanned.

Handball in the box=penalty.

It could lead to lots of awards but it would increase goals in games and perhaps lead to more attacking football. Surely a big incentive to get forward and get the ball in the box.

Probably not, in all honesty, the answer but I'd rather that than the decision still being in the hands of some bias/terrified punter from Lanarkshire.

Painful if your reaction time was slow. ☺️

I'd also go with anything within a certain Range, say 5 yards is never a penalty.

Aye. That could retain a bit of balance and still allow for genuine accidents whilst defending and blocking at close quarters. However, we'd still have the Lanarkshire ref deciding what is, and isn't, 5 yards.

It's a puzzler, bud.

Unlucky to lose that in the end. Let's have the attitude of we have nothing to fear against Japan or Argentina. Come on the lassies. By the way how good was Alexander in goals for Scotland today?

We'll never know how that game would have panned out the longer it was 0-0.

England were jittery until that ludicrous penalty they got

Interesting that the officials for Canada v Cameroon comprises a north Korean ref and assistant with the other assistant being south Korean.

Reserve assistant also south Korean.

Argentina 0-0 Japan coming up for half time

Hope it ends like that

Are we thinking Argentina are a threat to us or that we are a threat to Japan?

Can't tell if Japan aren't what they've been cracked up to be or if Argentina have improved

 They both look terrible.

I hope Scotland don't suffer a mental backlash as a result of their first game being the high prestige game.  They would have expanded tremendous physical and emotional energy in that contest.

Hopefully they have emerged more encouraged than disappointed and will be ready mentally for the next contest.

As we Hearts supporters know only too well, you get exactly the same number of points for beating Livingston as you do for beating Celtic.  That doesn't always seem to translate to the players.

Fingers crossed for a historic WC first win later in the week.

The backlash to it all was in the first half.

More likely to be determined for next game after disappointment yesterday.

Pretty comfortable for Argentina to defend. They did well. Commentators saying it's a young Japan side so maybe first match nerves and inexperience.

Scotland must be encouraged.

VAR could categorically clear that up tho, but if we didn't have it, it would still be a disaster.

Fair doos to the women.

Been a few dunts and they just get on with it.

That Canadian lass taken one straight in the stomach on the follow through, got up straight away.

A couple of balls to the face, (now, now) not even a flinch.

Bounce straight back up 9/10.

Refreshing, with the no play acting and mincing about.

So if Branco hit a free kick straight in their chops? Or Souness went over the ball?  Straight back up?  Don't think so. Women can't kick the balls hard, unless the wages are short.

You seem to have a problem understanding that the women are playing other women, and nobody is expecting them to compete against or with mean. If your churlish argument (repeated over two threads) is that they couldn’t compete against men, then I’m pretty sure everyone agrees with you. That’s why there’s no men there playing against them.

Do you sit and watch Wimbledon and get in a rage when it’s The Womens’ Final because the Champion wouldn’t beat a bloke? Do you wind yourself up in to right ball of rage when a woman gets a gold medal at the olympics for sprinting, because her time isn’t as quick as the men?

Totally weird running down womens’ sport for these reasons. Doesn’t make you look good, and it just ruins the thread for everyone else. :(

Point totally missed.

That was something tbh.

The point was they don't roll about when not  really hurt.

Diving, pretending to be hurt, time wasting, barrel roles, fake waving cards.... Like the men do- A lot.

I'm sure if thier ankle was really snapped or they were unconscious they would stay down.

Also, in regards to force, let a women kick boxer kick you in the face, see if it hurts.

Be nice if the mods could have a wee clean up so we can actually talk about the matches going on and the world Cup in general.

Same people with the same points on separate threads. It's boring.

Women can’t kick balls hard ?  , fancy coming up to the Oriam Wednesday or Thursday , when the Hearts women’s team are training , you to make a solo wall and we’ll find out if that is in fact true ?

Icon of Symmetry  gets it bang on , it’s women v women .

Jesus, are folk so literal in real life?

There will be exceptions, but on the whole, no where near as much.

Whole games have went past without a lass going down like she was shot and not much pestering/ mouthling off at the ref.

But, yes.  The women don't dive around or even hardly complain to the ref.

Apart from the filthy cheating Argies.
