I just wonder if Levein is waiting to see exactly how bad Harings injury is before deciding Exactly what option to take. The fact that they have sent for a 2nd opinion makes me think it might require an op hence why they want to be so sure.

From what I read about it today it sounds as if Haring came back too early. He should probably not have played in the Cup Final which is perhaps why CL is taking a bit of the blame for urging him to play.

The Specialist he saw has said rest is the cure although it seems they are sending him for a second opinion.

He has missed all of the pre-season work so will be way behind on his fitness so we need to get someone in asap and hoppefully someone who is fit and ready to play come the start of the season.

Incidentally CL also said that we are not interested in Morrison.

I read that the specialist recommended rest and that he would not be available for the start of the season.

I read it that the specialist recommended rest, but that hasn’t worked and they sent him to another specialist for a 2nd opinion? He seems to have changed his mind from one article to the other on bringing in another midfielder.

It’s the same interview, you said he had been recommended to rest and would miss the start of the season, the 2nd opinion might not agree.

I notice someone we'd been linked with, not sure if on here or in the media - george boyd - has signed for Peterborough.

Was just speaking to a Jambo pal in work and we were discussing the possibility of signing Mulumbu and Morrison (of course unlikely considering their wages), but imagine:

GK Zlamal

RB Smith

CB Halkett

CB Souttar

LB Hickey

DMC Haring/Mulumbu

RW Walker

LW Mulraney

AMC Morrison

ST Naismith

ST Washington

Some team that would be.

From reading that I can only assume we never had any plans on replacing Djoum.

Think the plan was to use the youth coming through to replace Djoum

👍 time to give youth a good crack at it . Don’t and we run the risk of losing them.

At least that will help us score more goals.

Oh wait.

It will if you understand football.

A good dm protects the back 4 and allows the attacking players to attack without worrying about what's behind them.

Complicated, but if you can get to grips with football being a team game, then go from there you'll get it.

Agree mate, obviously with Haring being out for longer than expected might push our hand as to signing a new midfielder, Levein must think the youth are going to make the step up.

Not necessarily and I think we have to give them a chance otherwise why have an Academy.

You don't dump youth in without support. Bozanic, Edwards, Lee should have been the players to depart. Haring and another starting quality CM with te youngsters behind them. Hanging them out to dry is not the answer.

Definitely. We have so many good prospects coming through that if we don’t start giving them a game we run risk of losing them, and younger ones who see them not getting game time.

Ajax are always hanging their youngsters out to dry right enough!

Really hope we get another winger in or someone creative, especially given our injury record recently.

Should Naismith sign then I’m happy with our attacking and creative options. The glaring hole is in centre midfield with Haring unavailable.

It would seem just by this one post you have made a very poor attempt at a wind up or know very little about football.

which is it? ;)

Probably both, but his record in Europe is pretty poor despite having so many attempts to get it right. He's had a few results as bad as our exit under Neilson, which means I think this tie could go the same way. When drawn against EPL opposition he did worse than our ragtag team at the time. Fair play, McInnes is a master at finishing 2nd in a Premiership without a full-strength Rangers, Hearts and/or Hibs but he's not exactly covered himself in glory in Europe.

The argument was why bother signing CMs. We've got youngsters. Youngsters should be there to supplement quality.  We lost our best CM and our best DM is out injured. These players need replaced. The players I mentioned are journeyman who are no better than the youth. The balance to strike is have players of Djoum and Haring quality playing with the youngsters. The space to create opportunities for them should be made by moving on squad fillers.

I think the problem is we’re off the back of 3 consecutive disappointing seasons and alot of fans fear another if we continue to experiment, test, try out etc....

Im on the bus with giving youth a chance, absolutely on it, but we shouldn’t be weakening the squad at the expense of making Hearts as strong as they can/should be.  (Had to re-read that lol)

I’m certain Levein will sign at least one midfielder anyway, two would be most welcome but possibly wishful thinking.

It is quite incredible that we do not have a Playmaker in the team,  our lack of creativity is a worry imo.

Youngsters are going to play the Djoum role, with Walker providing more attacking play from midfield so the youngsters, eg Clare, don't need to do so much of that. We're signing one more CM at least to both cover for Haring and I assume to possibly play alongside him. That's all we need.
