Well he was quoted by another poster out here to be some sort of Messiah because he played at the euros during the qualifiers period he scored one goal  against Greece and Lafferty scored 7 during the qualifiers in 2016 lets not kid ourselves here he had been second fiddle to Lafferty during that campaign if u go back during these qualifiers and have a look u will see he had been warming the bench have a look.

You made the statement. I have obviously assumed, incorrectly, that you knew the answer.

You don't know if a player is definitely going to make it until they've played a number of games for the club. Expectations for Oshiniwa were sky high and he was a major flop.  A number of posters didn't rate Bjorn Johnson and he's subsequently earned a €3m move to AZ Alkmaar.

Aye ok it's that nonsensical that both players are representing the same team that doesn't carry a large pool of players that also has four English men in it that would get nowhere near the England team however you crack on though ? but jesus tonight take your time??

My point stands , totally different players at totally different points in their careers.

Keep digging the hole

Does anyone know why we were so easy to deal with there? I know we got a fee but he was doing ok - was it a Cathro decision to get rid?

Possibly the dog's abuse he got from the stands for hi lack of application and tracking back?

Magennis isn't even getting the first goal last night. Been awarded to Washington. Useless.

There's little doubt that our recruitment, over the last few years, has included more than a few players who should have never darkened our door. It may, or may not be, that the same person is responsible for this waste of the club's money.

The recruitment last summer seems to have been better, but then we end up with a player, from the January window, who seems to have no future at the club already. A player who we all were hoping would give us the impetus to earn a European place by league position.

You would think that a normal business, with our record of poor recruitment, would investigate and review the people and process responsible, and take steps to minimise future mistakes. I say minimise, because every new player isn't going to be a star, but our recent record gives little confidence in any future decision making.

It also drains any confidence that the fans have that the players coming in will be any good. Hence, we have the kind of argument that we are seeing on this thread.

We are going to make 4 or 5 new signings I believe.

When they come in, can you tell us which ones are going to make it and which ones we should not have signed.

There's always going to be wages spent on players that don't get into the team. These players will always be perceived as Shite if you can't understand you can only play 11 at a time.

It's something that won't be changing anytime soon.

Aye but there's a difference between players getting in and out of the side through form, injury etc

No because they are just plain shite and would be better suited to playing for a side in the 2nd tier of Scotland rather than Scotlands 3rd best team

Thats the problem at Hearts

Summer 2017 we signed Lafferty, Berra, McLaughlin, Milinkovic and Michael Smith. Hardly a bad window. We then added Naismith in January. Not sure why folk expect a smaller club like Hearts to do so well in the transfer market when huge teams make such a mess of it?

Few people now mentioning vanecek, how can we as a club have got it so wrong if he is as bad as players are saying?

Is there a link in martin, juwon amd vanecek, perhaps in that the same person brought them all to our attention or have we just been unlucky??

Has to be something badly amiss given the money involved.

It happens at every club as you well know.  Mourinho brought in Pogba £89m and Sanchez (valued at £65m) and they were well short of being successes.

Rangers have 2 players ready to move on who cost fees who were a waste of transfer fees

Celtic spent £1m on Marin Compper to sit on his rear end.

Every club wastes money because you do not know if any new signing is going to work out.

When huge teams do it, it's Craigs fault as well.

Couthino(sp) at Barca - his fault.

Hibs signed 3 players in January (when without a manager I may add. If that happened with us you can guarantee the media would have been all over it like a fly around shite). One of them McNulty which is fair enough but the other two didn’t kick a ball for them.

No.

But then I don’t know who we’re bringing in, how good they are or whether they are likely to enhance the spirit or performance at our club.

Hearts have professional people who are there to assess these things before we lay out our cash resources. Given our previous  results in this area of expertise, we should, and are entitled to, expect better.

Correct. The issue was that some people seemed to think the forward momentum was going to continue on to a league challenge and when that didn't happen the Neilson abuse got over the top which eventually led to him making a very odd career decision.

I wonder what would have happened if Cathro had have largely worked with that group of players instead of signing all the players in January. It might have been the best thing for all concerned.

With your profound knowledge, you can give your forecast on each before they kick a ball for us.  Saves the use of hindsight later.
