SectionDJambo
There's little doubt that our recruitment, over the last few years, has included more than a few players who should have never darkened our door. It may, or may not be, that the same person is responsible for this waste of the club's money. The recruitment last summer seems to have been better, but then we end up with a player, from the January window, who seems to have no future at the club already. A player who we all were hoping would give us the impetus to earn a European place by league position. You would think that a normal business, with our record of poor recruitment, would investigate and review the people and process responsible, and take steps to minimise future mistakes. I say minimise, because every new player isn't going to be a star, but our recent record gives little confidence in any future decision making. It also drains any confidence that the fans have that the players coming in will be any good. Hence, we have the kind of argument that we are seeing on this thread. The issue was that some people seemed to think the forward momentum was going to continue on to a league challenge and when that didn't happen the Neilson abuse got over the top which eventually led to him making a very odd career decision. I wonder what would have happened if Cathro had have largely worked with that group of players instead of signing all the players in January. It might have been the best thing for all concerned.
