Diadora Van Basten
I quite like watching the MLS on Sky and have not seen Nicholson this season and his team aren’t that great either. leginten
No idea what he is like now. He wasn't necessarily the most consistent, but I would suggest that Sam Nicholson in full flow and on song was one of the finest sights I've seen at Tynecastle in recent years. Ribble
If Aberdeen are after Nicholson it probably means that GMS has turned down their contract offer/said he's leaving, in that case I'd rather we put an offer to GMS over Nicholson tbh

Glamorgan Jambo
His MLS contract is up at the end of this calendar year and it'll be touch and go whether he gets another one. He's on a fairly decent salary package (roughly 250K USD per year) so if he's on the fringes he's unlikely to get a renewal at that wage. Would love to see him back at Hearts. Sid
Think we are all sounding to Levein-esque in this debate. Lucky if one one or two on this thread have seen anything of him or know any of his stats but everyone seems to have a very clear view - either he will have improved since leaving and would be a great signing or he had some attitude issues when he left and won’t have changed so don’t touch him. I wouldn’t consider making a call without having some understanding of how the US has changed him - for better or worse. But it does give some people an opportunity to have a go at some of the guys here comparing a fantasy Nicholson to them.
boag1874
We’ve yet to replace him. Would take him back in a second if he’d come. Had the ability to grab a tricky game by the scruff of the neck and turn it into a win. Folk can argue about consistency all they want (I agree he wasn’t effective 100% of the time) but someone like him would’ve helped us pick up a good chunk of the stupid points we’ve dropped this year, exactly the type of player we’ve missed

Aye, so am I especially when you read the guff in the erstwhile named "Edinburgh Evening News" last night where they ran a series of photos headed "Which current Hearts players are likely to be at club for next season?" https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hearts/latest-hearts-news/which-current-hearts-players-are-likely-to-be-at-club-for-next-season-1-4923972 As you can see, if you can be arsed working your way through 10 pages of pure speculation (which could have been covered in one page but would'nt have produced the same "click" score) we are told the earth-shattering news: Malaury Martin - Maybe. He's free to leave, and has been for some time. No takers. One more year left on contract" Well, it appears we know more than the EEN and there's no danger of him ever playing again for Hearts. Well, Craig, that's another fine mess you've got us into. I like many others want to know what it's cost us.

No doubt Sam has a good brain, energetic, never hid but seemed to get in a rut with similar performances in the run up to leaving. On his game though he was terrific. He could find the net and what I’ll say is, he’s one of few wingers in recent times who could. Criticism of Mulraney would be lack of goals for a winger. Just seems to lack that little bit of cunning or punch in the last third to find a bit space to have a dig.

Coming back into the league I'd think/hope he'd be able to offer some refreshing. The core of the question is, would he improve us? Is he a better player than Mulraney, Moore and Morrison? The answer to those questions is emphatically yes. McInnes isn't a dafty, he wants him because he sees a good player that can make an impact at this level. We should be in, even if we don't manage to do a deal it will at least make the dons pay over the odds. Edit: Also think Jake would benefit from not having the pressure of being our main winger. Nicholson might help add an edge of competitiveness to Mulraneys game. Was reading the Aberdeen forums and they seem to think they're in for Danny Wilson too.
