That’s not what happened. Don’t believe that for a second and Levein intimated that the defence started picking that option

that said, the question still has to be asked why the players chose to do that ?

If Levein/coaches don’t address, fix it and stop it from happening who will ?

I've really no idea why they're choosing to do it and I don't think a new manager would either. We need a run of wins.

Who remembers August - October last season?

I do. And that was a Levein team playing football with confidence. Confidence is everything in football.

You make a real valid point re the start of last season. We then lost a bit of momentum, most folk, not all put it down to injuries. Since then it’s been a slide

the Betfred group stage was the ideal time to get some goals and confidence going against some part time sides, but no, it never happened

No question, on the park we were a different side start of last season and on paper we have a much stronger side now and I think some of the recent signings are really good. Why do we then just look berefit of ideas currently. We need a good result and a win on Friday and hopefully get some confidence back in the side

No, you've misunderstood me...

I don't agree with your assessment and I'm not interested in getting into a debate with someone who thinks it's as simple as 'we're shite so our coaching must be shite'...

We've lost 8 of our last 10 games and drawn the other 2 whilst playing horrendous football, that is my definition of utter shite. Can you tell me your definition?

Aye, unfortunately I have watched them.

I'm not saying the football isn't all of the above. I'm saying the manager won't send them out with the tactic of 'pass it to whoever is free in our half, turn and punt it'...

Absolutely no way that's happening. It's the players confidence that's the issue.

So if this is the case and the players continue to punt it because of their lack of confidence the manager then picks the same players the following week (after week after week)? Come on Berra is most experienced player we’ve got, if CL pulled him and told him if he continues to punt it he’s dropped I’ll guarantee you the next match the ball wouldn’t be launched. If players weren’t following managers instructions they would be dropped immediately.

The slow play along the back with easy passes then launch is a safety first tactic and that’s because of the way the players are being coached.

Hearts are a big club in Scotland with a good reputation and outside chance of winning trophies, that’s what appeals to players.

I agree. But they wouldn't sign if they're told the coaching is horrendous.

He picks the same players because they're the best we've got in that position.

For 3 years?

I think that answers it.

Correct.

Christ how many of the current players were even there then?

We keep still doing the same thing with each team that has constantly changed over 3 years because there confidence has gone!!!

Bit of a coincidence that. Look at the one constant that has been there over that period.

It's not rocket science to work that one out is it. 🤔

Play from side to side along the back four at pedestrian pace, Berra / Souttar / Bobby then hoof it up to Uche who then engages in a "strongest man" competition before falling on his arse or giving away a free kick.

This is what infuriates me, Iain.  The number of times Hearts get the ball up to the opposition penalty box only for it to be passed back through midfield to the defence then back to Zlamal who blasts it up field for Uche to fall on his arse trying to control it.

The biggest result from the lack of confidence is that nobody has the nouse to just take a shot but instead try to play tippy-tappy ball retention.

I'd much rather we played through the 3rds quickly, got the ball wide & our wide players got to the bye line before putting dangerous balls into the box.

Doesn't seem to happen enough with most of our crosses coming from middle 3rd, straight to opposition CH or GK.

Hate to use across the city as an example but Boyle & Horgan go straight for the bye line when they get the ball.

Infuriating!

The issue is we don't really have any decent fast wide players... Mulrenay probably the best but not getting a game at present... Walker's not got the pace to be out and out winger... Zanatta could play there but never gets a run in the team.

This is an area we should have been trying to sort out.... another black mark against the management team.

What Hearts need is a Forrest Gump type that will go straight for the bye-line.

Couldn't make the bench at Rangers.

Plus hes a snide.

File under snake along with Pressley.

No one minded Hartley going to his boyhood club.

It's not just about football.

After all the support both players got they chose Tynecastle to metaphorically tell us we meant nothing.

Snake 1 pumping the Celtic badge

Snake 2 pumping the Rangers badge.

Weeks after leaving.

Snake 1 tried to justify it like a little today rat.

Snake 2 doesnt understand what justify means hes just a rat.

Hope that's wow enough

Toady

He was on the bench most weeks at Rangers. Laff has to start games to maintain fitness.

A snide who we signed for nothing and punted for decent money a year later. If only we could do that with all players we sign.

I had left the ground by the time Rangers were celebrating at the end but personally could not care less if he celebrated with their fans at the end.

He is a Rangers fan who loved his time at Hearts but wanted to sign for his boyhood club. In what way is he a rat? Ni transfer requests and he gave his all to the end including a fine goal against Celtic.

And I've no problem with him wanting to go back to Rangers.

Or that he supported them.

I was there at the end.

I know he is meant to be thick but it riled me.

In the same way Presssssssley did.

Lack of respect which I happily return.

And it was some weeks emptied by Gerrard who obviously didnt appreciate his lack of professionalism.
