The correct scenario (from a Utd point of view) would be for Utd to turn over City, then Liverpool go and blow it in one of their remaining games !

Well - my respect for Liverpool greatly increased in 1995, when they beat Blackburn on the last day. This could've cost one of their all-time favourite sons the title, and handed it to their most hated rivals instead... only for Ludo Miklosko to produce the performance of his life and get a draw for West Ham.

By contrast, when Tottenham went to Old Trafford on the last day in 1999, many of their fans were furious when they took the lead. United came back, with the help of some accidental on purpose comedy Spurs defending, so Arsenal were denied.

Incidentally: call me an idiot by all means, but I've a wee feeling United will take something on Wednesday. Maybe even all three points? :wow:

United will get zero points on Wednesday. Man City will win every remaining fixture and win the league.

I don't care which of the old firm win. I'd want us to beat Hibs every time.

I'd take a defeat to the OF though to stop Hibs winning the league. That will never be a scenario though so it's all good.

That's how I feel. Losing to that shower is completely unacceptable.

To be fair that's not a particularly strong characteristic to identify a ManUre fan. :whistling:

Is the correct answer

Man City will have far too much for the woeful United.

Sadly :(

A lot depends on where the Man U fan is from, the ones in Manchester are really torn on this as they’re living working and socialising with City fans....if City has beaten Spurs in the champions league they’d be wanting to win this the threat of the quadruple was not sitting easy with them. Now I think they’d probably just slightly edge towards City winning the league over Liverpool now. Those outside the Manc area are happy to Chuck this one so long as it’s only a 1 or 2 nil job if it’s a doing they’ll turn on the players big time especially Pogba and the other big time Charlie’s in the team.

In answer to the OP if Hibs ever win the league I’ll emigrate, would rather Celtic win 35 in a row than witness Hibs win a league

Ok bit of a strange one but living down south and knowing a few people who support Man U, Man C and Liverpool, we’ve got a situation I just can’t imagine in Edinburgh.

On Wednesday City go to old Trafford and my wife’s boss (head chef in a pub/restaurant) is die-hard Utd. He’s been going since he was about 7 and was a hard-core hooligan of the casual variety for about 15 years. On Wednesday, such is his hatred for Liverpool that he actually wants City to win.

From what I’m hearing he’s not in a minority.

Could we ever envisage a scenario where we would want Hearts to lose v Hibs so they could stop either of the OF winning the league??

From a personal point of view I hate both the OF more than I hate Hibs but the thought of actually wanting us to lose a derby?? Just no!!!

ps please leave 16 cup out of this. This is about the league and a league derby ?

No.

Absolutely no chance.

Hearts to beat Hibs every time, regardless of the consequences.

It would probably be the same with Liverpool,  if it was Man U and Everton were battling it out for a title, the Liverpool fans would be backing Everton

From a Liverpool point of view, if Everton were going for the league title along with Man Utd, and Liverpool were playing Everton, and a Liverpool win would hand the title to Man Utd, then I'd probably be secretly hoping that Everton won to stop them winning it, so I can hardly blame United fans for wanting City to beat them tomorrow night, even if they ARE due us one from 1995 ;)

I can only see it being Villa or Derby - and Villa have such a strong squad and are absolutely flying. Playoffs are always something of a crapshoot though.

100% agree that theyre the form team at the moment but the play offs are a different game entirely. They'll face West Brom in the semis which will be a big enough challenge as it is, then it's likely to be Leeds or Derby* in the final. Tough ask for any team, even Villa.

*Unless Bristol or Middlesbrough get that play off spot, in which case Leeds would still win imo

Man Utd v Barcelona

Barcelona were Evens to win

Man Utd v Man City

Man City are 4/9 to win.

Looking at the match odds it appears that even the Man Utd players must want City to win!

The closest comparison we have in Scotland is probably the Dunfermline v Falkirk derby.

Raith are Dunfermline's local rivals but the real rivalry is with Falkirk. I'd imagine my Dunfermline supporting mates would happily lose to the Rovers to stop Falkirk winning the league.

I'll be there and wanting a United win.

I want United to win every game, no matter who we play.

I must admit, though, I won't exactly be distraught if we lose.

Perfect scenario for me is beating City tomorrow and Chelsea on Sunday and finishing in top four and the scousers losing to Wolves on last day of the season to blow the title.

It is a derby game and this will be City's 8th fixture since the 3rd of March. The only reasons utd have a good chance of winning.

The Liverpool being Utd’s biggest rivals thing I could go with but for the fact that City have won 3 titles this decade compared to Liverpool’s 0. Yet despite City being in the same city as Utd, some/many Utd fans want to see City continue their success to deny a first title in 29 years to a team which are geographically about as close as we are to Celtic.

It'll probably depend on the age of the supporters. 10 year old Man Utd fans will view City as the team they want to lose more than any other whereas 50 year old fans will feel that way about Liverpool. I've always hated Rangers the most as I started going to football during 9 in a row. Someone that starts going to Hearts matches now will probably feel that way about Celtic.

A fact that I'm pinning a lot of hope on, I won't be cheering on the dirty Man Utd tossers tomorrow night, I could never bring myself to do that, but a draw would be dandy! I still think City have tough fixtures left to end the season, away to Burnley is never easy, home to a rejuvenated Leicester, and last game is away to Brighton who are scrapping for their lives, there's a few hurdles yet, for both sides!

With some of the luck we've had, I keep thinking Liverpool's name is on it, but then I saw a stat at the weekend that said if VAR had been in play this season, Liverpool would be 1 point better off, and City would be 5 points worse off, so maybe not (I've no idea what decisions they based this on before anyone asks).

I remember that idiot Eamonn Holmes sneering about skulduggery the day before and his beloved Man U being diddled. Accused Liverpool of all kind of lying down. Not a bit of it.

Well remember the Hibs support saying the same about the last day in 2005. Hearts would lie down at Pittodrie and accommodate Aberdeen and their goal difference needs thus cheating Hibs out of Europe.

We didn't, of course, just a 0-2 defeat but at Easter Road Hibs, 0-1 down, were playing tippy-tap, West Germany/Austria style, with Rangers. Yet they still make accusations about us to this day about that afternoon?

I don't think United will stop City on Wednesday but I hope so.

However if the circumstances were similar to Wednesday I could never ever live with myself to want Hibs to beat Heart of Midlothian in order for them to pip Celtic to the league

Remember this is the same so called best league in the world that accepts half and half scarves in and amongst the support.

Everyone knows they only sell them to tourists of which there are many at EPL games.k

It is only the street sellers that sell them.

The profit they make is staggering.

£2 cost.£8 profit every scarf pre match.£3 after match.

Was talking to one of the City sellers at the Palace game in the pub.

The profits they make is mind boggling.

A lot of them join forces for world cups and the likes.

Japan world cup they joined up and sold 5000 Beckham tops in one day at £40 profit a top.

My dad and uncle took me to an OF Cup final.  0-0 draw and the place was like a morgue.  Do appreciate it would have livened up with a goal.

I was Jimmy Johnston's nemesis.  He was anonymous that day and I never saw him play well against us.  Clearly a great player though.

It was Chalmers and Lennox who did the damage against us in those days as i recall.

Tbh at the time i didn’t want either side to win, but I am happy we have now moved on from our slight obsession with their long run without a cup win. That’s what it was in the end, the last couple of years, constantly singing the 1902 song every game, even at times when we weren’t playing Hibs. From their perspective the bitterness was going too far, they would have self-combusted as a club if they’d have kept on making an arse of cup runs any longer.

At at some point they were going to win it, at least they got it out the way when they were down in the diddy league. No league derbys for them to rub it in ? All of Edinburgh can laugh about it now. Here’s to another 115 years of no Hibs cup win ?

I also find it funny that Sevco FC have NEVER won any major silverware in their history as a club, losing their only final to H1b5 ? absolute fuds, how long will that run will keep going.... Wonder if they’ll match St Johnstone’s run of 100 odd years before their first ever trophy. We can dream
