Robertson and Selby were players who looked like the new dominators but it hasn't happened.     Trump is next up to be that player.    It seems hard to believe that he would replicate that on a regular basis so who can tell?

I'm just surprised it's taken him this long. After 2011 I expected him to have won it 3 or 4 times by now at the very least. The difference in him between then and now is huge though.

i think it was to do with trump not fully applying himself.

in this final there was similarities to what hendry used to do to players in his prime. No matter how well others played he could destroy them. Something trump did in this final especially in yesterdays  evening session

The journalist that backed him around 20 years ago to win the world title before 2020 has struck big...£10,000

He saw him play in a snooker club and called Corals to back him..this was his last chance to collect

Not sure

I do remember that match. It was a ridiculous number of frames. An epic bore-athon.

Final score was 38-32..

Here's all the past winners and scores

Trump still 100/1 for SPOTY on bet 365.

Already won the Masters and World Championship this year.

Must be worth a £.

O'Sullivan won the UK otherwise a season grand slam would have ensured him winning it.

This years UK is in December. Maybe just too late for SPOTY?

I think its an absolutely great bet.

The UK Championship finishes the week before the usual date of the SPOTY.

Trump is currently 2nd favourite behind Ronnie for the UK's and if he wins he will have done a season grand slam. It'll be the freshest thing in the minds of those voting if he wins the week before.

Even better if he keeps doing well in events in the meantime.

Not sure if the bet would allow the cash out option, could give big profits as cash out as he will undoubtably drop in price.

Andy Murray or Lewis Hamilton still more likely favourites for SPoY. Or a cricketer if England do well in World Cup and Ashes.

Also have England winning the Nations League or the Rugby world cup to contend with.

Actually think the biggest threat is from the England Womens WC should they do well.

Murray might not even play a game of Tennis in 2019 and Hamilton will need to be better than ever if he wants to win a second time.

Sterling is a favourite - add in his racism stance which will no doubt buy him bonus points. You need to be exceptional as a footballer to win this award though i always feel. I think he was strongest at the start of this season.

If Harry Kane didn't win it last year, going to be hard for anyone else.

You know, I had a mental shortlist of who might clock this first, and you didn't disappoint.

Well played Boz!
