Play the kids!

Just wondering what everyone’s thoughts are after hearing of keena and Morrison’s injuries and the fact they are out for the season

Do we:

A/ play the kids in all our remaining league games and wrap our important players in cotton wool for the final - sacrifice potential points for injuries ?

or B/ play the best team possible in all our remaining games and hope that everyone reaches the final injury free ?

would be good to hear all opinions on this and the reasons why

Europe is still on the cards. So no?

You play to win. Never play the kids.

(If anyone brings up man u...it's not comparable)

Get ur 1st point completely which is why I posted the question - have we got enough to get to Europe through the league and at what cost ?

given our luck and trends at the moment with injuries having our team in tact come cup final day with the possible addition of naisy might end up being a more realistic option - that said I hate the thought of putting injuries before points so like I said, completely get ur point

We should have been playing the kids long, long before now.

In the last 3-4 years we've been giving the kids a go and seeing real progress on the park.

CL has decided that bringing youth through has to take 2nd place to proving that his risky dud signings were worth it.

So now the youth development programme ends at the senior reserves level and the "conveyor belt of talent" that Ann and FOH have been dreaming of has stalled.

The league campaign has fallen to pieces and the first team are lacking in confidence.

But is now the time to make a change to youth players?

Would it do their development any good to be horsed in all of the "Top 6" round of games?

Would it harm the morale of the senior first team even more if they're suddenly removed from the line-up?

Does saving the first team regulars for the final really give us any kind of advantage at all against Celtic considering their pish-poor showings over the last 6 months?

Would Hearts be better off giving proven youngsters like Cochrane who haven't been failing all year a spot against Celtic in the final and letting them make legends of themselves?

The dilemmas of a football manager are not to be envied.

For me we play the strongest available 11 every time...if that includes kids then great, they will be there on merit.

Right now we head to the cup final with little but hope, earn some victories against the best sides in the league before then and we might just head to Hampden with a little confidence to add to that hope.

Also the league campaign is on life support but not yet dead. Win tomorrow and suddenly the Hibs and Kilmarnock games present an opportunity to get back to 4th place. Unlikely I feel but not quite time to wind down just yet. If no movement up the league after these matches then start to wind down against Aberdeen and Celtic is likely to be the reserves regardless of potential league impact.

Full strength for the next 3 at least.

If we win all 3 or take 6 points, then we try and beat Aberdeen and Celtic. If not and 4th and maybe 5th is no longer achievable after the next 3, then we should rest players and rotate the squad.

Resting players from now until May the 25th is a bad idea. We need our team to be match sharp going into the final.

It it depends on how things pan out.

Injuries have been happening to the full time kids as well as the senior players.

Cochrane had an interrupted first half of the season

Jamie Brandon not long back from a long term injury

Marcus Godinho ...... ditto.......

Aiden Keena the latest injury

Callumn Morrison carried off at Kilmarnock on Monday

Daniel Baur recurring hamstring problems now back playing

Jay Sandison recurrinng knee problem now back playing

Jamine Nwanze walking around with a knee brace

Scott McGill out for the last couple of months

Leeroy Makovora out for half the season, back today but back on crutches with an ankle problem

Sean Ward missed a couple of months

Brodie Strang long term injury and hasn't played for most of the season

Mackenzie Lawler out long term, came back for a couple of games and now again out of the picture.

I think Levein will give everyone like Dik and Harry (brilliant play on words there) a chance to make the final squad.  I dont however think he won't play competitive sides.

You guys pay far too much money for that.

Do think Uche will be used sparingly.  Substituted at half time sort of thing.  We must have him raring to go on the 25th.

This is more or less how I see it.

Full strength while we still have an outside chance of 3rd/4th, but put a reserve team out at parkhead,

Make sure everyone is clear that they are playing for their cup final place in the last five games then pick your strongest team every game.

Never known or can remember a season like it for injuries - horrendous list above
