Despite its popularity and amount of airtime over the years, Bryan Adams' Summer of '69' never got into the UK top 40.

With the recent renaming of Astana (to Nur-Sultan), there is now only one capital city that means “capital city” in the local language.

East Fife have won the Scottish Cup once.

(Learned that yesterday!)

Until hibs, they were the only team from outside the top division to win it - my stepdad's a fan.

My turn, I've mentioned this before, but the Dutch word for bagpipes is doedelzak.

Great thread by the way, I love pointless shite

Seoul means capital but I guess that isn't the one if it's capital city specifically?

WD40 got its name as it was successfully created at the 40th attempt. The WD part stands for water displacement.

It's a QI question - hurple and curple, rhyme with purple.

Not from QI -but intramonth rhymes with month !

The best QI one for me was if you drop a bullet from your hand and fire one from a gun, held at the same height, and at the same time -  both bullets will hit the ground at exactly the same time. Not really trivia, more physics , but took me a while.

on a similar note to the bullet one. if you fire a gun on the moon and the bullet is travelling fast enough and there is nothing in its way it will go round the moon and hit the person who fired the gun

I agree Al.

Worse still though when folk spell it ‘cue’ or, even worse, ‘que’.

Yeah, when there, google and various apps still think you’re in Tselinograd.

In current form (as the newly-built capital in ex-Soviet era), it was called Astana. The renaming was inevitable (when the president resigned/died).

That can't be right. They'll maybe both be at the same speed when they land, but the one fired will accelerate to top speed much faster and get there first.

Edit - wait, unless you're talking about firing the gun horizontally, in which case of course, that makes sense
