Eggert Interview

Seems to be another one that has alot of respect for Shaggy. Not normally a conspiracist, and it's nice to see some support for Frail, but it seems to me like they're lining us up for the sort of announcement that we really, really don't want to hear.....

Midfielder Eggert Jonsson today labelled Hearts' trip to Aberdeen on Saturday the first leg of a must-win double header.

Having been knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Motherwell in Tuesday night's Fir Park replay, the 10th-placed placed Jambos take on Aberdeen on Saturday, the Dons sitting nine points and five places above the Gorgie side in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

After the trip to Pittodrie, Stephen Frail takes his men to Hampden Park four days later for the CIS Cup semi-final showdown with Rangers.

Eggert knows Hearts' league challenge can ill afford another defeat in the Granite City, particularly with the semi-final looming large on the horizon.

"The next two games are massive not only for the players but the whole club. It's massive. Saturday is a must-win game," said the Icelandic international.

"We need to get up to the top six in the league. It is not good enough to finish in the bottom six. The game next Wednesday is also massive as it is our only chance to get something from the season."

Hearts came back from Aberdeen with a merited draw on their last visit to Pittodrie earlier this season and Eggert is well aware of the challenge awaiting the Edinburgh outfit this weekend.

"Aberdeen is a hard place to go," said Eggert. "I don't think the performance on Tuesday was that bad but the result was not good. We've been trying to build momentum for the last few weeks, people are starting to see that, and that's why the Motherwell result was so disappointing.

"We've got a trip to Aberdeen on Saturday and it is a hard place to go. But the players are showing more desire, Stephen (Frail) has come in and got us going again and it's good to have him in control. It's given us a lift."

Eh, the bit in bold.... League challenge? Sure....
