JamboGraham
Article is a wee bit all over the place, the replay blackout is less to do with the current deals and more to do with scheduling of our tournaments. The UEFA calendars are available years in advance, no need for an association to get caught out and suddenly find their replay window clashes with Champions League ties. Of course the matches could be shown and the UEFA fine absorbed into the overall TV money but worth noting that only the very biggest European leagues have a history of doing this. I would also challenge the idea that football is moving from the TV to the phone and tablet. Perhaps partly true for goal clips, etc. but the cash cow of live matches remains the domain of the biggest screen available and is still a communal viewing event for many. I think the article confuses the fact that it is streamed with a requirement to view on a device rather than a TV. The pixellot system that they describe is incredible but it is very much a system that would take club tv/reserve coverage, etc. to the next level but it is not a cheap way to recreate the current coverage offered by Sky/BT or even the better highlights footage of recent seasons which includes 4 unique camera angles. In the US pixellot allows events like High School sport, etc. to hit a wider market.
