Partridge

I'm slipping, this should have had a thread a few weeks ago!

Anyway, the new Alan Partridge series has been really enjoyable, he belongs on the BBC and I reckon the magazine format really works for him. I love when Alan has creative freedom to make his own shorts, so even though sidekick Simon's been on the weak side it's been great to see for us old Partridge fans.

That Irish lookalike, brilliant!

The last 15 minutes of this weeks episode is up there with the best stuff he has done. The CPR and then the rebel songs???

Highlight of the series has been him singing Elton John IMO

Jonathan Watson did more in 90 seconds on the latest series of this than he's managed in 20+ years of OAE.

Absolutely ****ing superb.  After the series where he was staying in the hotel, this has been his best work yet.

There have been the odd moment where it hasn't worked but when it does,  it's World Class Partridge.

Top 3 bits for me are the CGI Alan in the Corporal punishment scene. Thought I was going to pass out from laughing at that and the smacking demonstration dressed as Alf Ramsey; the smile in the medieval battle scene before he stabbed the guy with the dagger; the CPR scene.

The best bits for me are the on location sections like Places of Our Lives and Scissored Isle programs, which are up there with his very best work

Only seen the first and it was a slow burner. Wasn't sure I was going to be keen because it's done in a way in which Alan isn't really supposed to be the star of the show, but in true Partridge style, he sabotaged it perfectly.

Absolutely loving it.  Only just caught up with last Mondays episode.  Brilliant writing and delivery.

Struggled to get into thw first one but it's been excellent overall. Some of the subtle stuff, the rolled R's for example and other mannerisms, are phenomenal. Def more mature product, though I've always enjoyed Partridge.

Like all sketch shows it is very hit and miss.

See the bit with Monty Don and talking about his diet a few weeks ago. For me that was poor for a comedian like Steve Coogan

Surprised its taken this long. In my opinion Coogan is a comedy genius. I've loved latest series albeit a lot cringing! Coogan, Gervais and Barker - three knights of comedy genius. In my opinion

Watch the clip above again folks. This time just watch Alan rather than Irish Alan when the rebel songs start. He goes from toe tapping to getting a voice in his ear. Subtle but brilliant.

Interesting because I thought those bits were both as Partridge as you get.

The last 5 minutes of episode 4 are straight in the top five Partidge moments for me.

To come up with that scenario was incredible and the performances of all, especially Coogan in two roles, more than done it justice. ????

His co-host has been a great straight woman throughout the whole series.

Agree with your point there

I think what I like about the show is I feel like Coogan is trying to do new things with the character (going to the gym, he seems to be very good with technology etc). Although I don't mind them showing his poor characters traits (the colleague passing away episode is excellent for that) :D

Even the Daniel Craig impersonator being there

That's terrific surreal comedy and Coogan is superb for that

First one was a bit patchy but its warmed up nicely. That lookalike scene was vintage stuff. Some of the supporting characters have been priceless. The Geordie boy in the audience in the dead presenter one was brilliant.

He does of course have history with de oirish...

"Ders More To Oirland Dan Dis..."

One of the funniest things on Knowing Me, Knowing You was the interview with the lesbians.

His list of 'slang names'...

There are also a couple of good Alan Partridge audio books available. I'm listening to his latest one, Nomad, at the moment.

Enjoying the TV series so far

The audio books also come in traditional paper form and are a funny read.

Bit with the Library door and infact that whole segment is fantastic

Coogan at his best

Agree, although overall I felt last nights episode was the weakest so far.  A lot to live up to on last week’s which was genius.
