I had a conversation here a few years ago with a couple of student US friends, who are now both lawyers, about why socialism is used as an insult in their country.

 

I explained about what we see as socialism, and they both agreed it didn't sound evil/bad at all. But in the US, it's largely seen, by the uneducated at least, as the same as communism. Although I think some see anything to the left of Genghis Khan as communist!

 

I was also in Miami 18 months ago, and a friend of ours was showing us around. He's an avid Trump fan, so that subject is something myself and others from this country avoid with him now, as it could get heated. He was showing us around a bohemian area called Wynwood where there's a lot of arty graffiti. There were a lot of spray painted "**** Trump" tags, and he was raging at the insult to his president. I kept quiet, but was laughing away inside.

The US will implode soon and this virus may well be the trigger.  The rural areas are gonna get thumped far harder than the cities in the long run.  Yes, there may be more people catching the virus in big cities just now, but that's also where they have the most facilities to deal with it.

 

I still think I we will see one of the states break away in the next 10/20 years.  Probably California.  Again, this virus may be the start.

 

Excluding this virus, China has practically every country's economy by the balls.  They will also be hoovering up loads due to the virus.  That's not a conspiracy saying they started it on purpose, just stating that they will be taking full advantage of it.    Just like Trumpy is doing by harassing Democrat Governors and countless other dodgy politicians will be doing all over the world.  Isn't the nutter in Hungary doing a wild power grab?

I watched a good part of his briefing, he rambled, got confused, got angry at and insulting to reporters, he praised the demonstrators who are disobeying all the rules about distance etc. one reporter referred to them as nazis Trump said they aren't they are good people. Its funny what we notice about a person, a couple of days ago I mentioned his hair was completely grey, today I noticed he had his orange face and blond hair, but his ears and the backs of his hands were pure white. I had a golf tan and everywhere that was exposed to the sun ears and hands also had color, possibly not quite

as dark as the face, but certainly not as in his case fish belly white.

Spot on Bob. The white line running down the side of his face running down past his ears? It’s bizarre, like sending your kid to school with their breakfast smeared all down their front.

I read that a handgun would be at the least $500. then there is the cost of ammunition and possibly shooting range for practise. I suspect those military style multi round automatic weapons military style would be much more. Well beyond what the average working guy would want to pay. They allegedly but them in some cases for hunting. If you couldn't hit a deer or other animal at 200 yds or more with an automatic weapon you shouldn't be hunting. Trumps support of the protesters and the frightening pictures of them portend a very very dangerous climate for the United States if Trump is not reelected.

I genuinely think at some point in the US election we will see bands of these idiots outside or near polling stations “exercising their right to protest”

First foray onto this thread. It’s been interesting reading the comments of those who see the average US citizen as being “anti-socialist”. If we remove labels for a sec, I remember my first ever visit to the US was in 1998 to attend a telecoms conference in Houston Texas. Whilst there I made what I thought was quite an innocent remark about how much lower and attractive their gas (petrol) prices were and how our gas prices were 80% tax. I got slapped down by a lady attendee from Florida who stated “Yeah but you got a health service!” As someone whose politics are left of centre I wasn’t expecting to get slapped down from the left in the States. Nobody else there defended what I had said.

My favourite takeaway was that to raise money to build the plinth for the statue of liberty, they put up the statue's disembodied hand in Madison Square and charged visitors to go up it for a look - this would have been taken around the time Hearts was founded

Was watching CNN this morning and they were reporting that Georgia is opening gyms, cinema's, hairdressers, barbers, nail bars, tattoo parlours & resturants etc etc ect.

 

This is despite infections in Georgia are on the increase and so are their deaths.

 

America is going to be absolutely fecked.
