People like her leave me stunned beyond words.  She's just one of many charlatans in the US who live in huge mansions, fly in private jets, and have millions in the bank... and they do it all in the name of Jesus.  I heard her say that she comes from Mississippi, which was recently rated as the least educated state in the Union, so no surprise there.

And now the American tax payers are paying her salary. It's Trump's way of out-Jesusing his opponents.

Well I don't have a spiritual adviser but there are three things I can predict and all three occurred last night at Trumps Campaign fiesta in Kentucky.

1. He will point to the media seats and call them Fake News.

2. A protester will be escorted out of the building around fifteen minutes after he starts. He will then compliment the police on their prompt action.

3. He will joke about his extensions to his terms of President up to seventeen years, and mebbe even twenty one. Would be funny if he didn't in fact mean it and says it to see how it will float.

He means it all right.  He's loving the lifestyle, he's loving what's happening with the Trump brand, and he's afraid of what might happen to him when he's no longer legally protected by the position of President.

Fortunately for the USA, and unfortunately for Trump, presidential term limits are defined by the US Constitution, specifically the 22nd Amendment. Repealing that Amendment requires approval of two-thirds of the House and two-thirds of the Senate, or two-thirds of  State legislatures.  It ain't gonna happen.

Which is a good thing, but I recall at one point and I cannot recall if it was he or a supporter that suggested if he lost in 2020 he was not leaving, and I suspect he feels that his base would support him by way of civil disobedience.

For what it's worth it's two-thirds of the House, two-thirds of the Senate, and three-fourths of the State legislatures.

It definitely ain't gonna happen.

It's honestly scary to me as an American. The rules don't matter if those in power refuse to follow them. For most of the nation's history, those in power have--at least mostly. This is truly unprecedented.

I watch a lot of news, I have lots of time and not much else to do. I watch likes of Rand Paul stand last night and demand loudly in front of a crowd that the media name the whistleblower. There is a law that specifically prohibits that. Here though we have a lawmaker encourage that it be disobeyed. The Jim Jordans, Nunes and the other sychophants are more than prepared to breach the law the Constitution and the wishes of the people for this man they see as a god. The most common comment one hears on the news, in conversation, is " I have never seen anything like this from a President", neither have I when talking about the United States, but I have seen it throughout the World since early childhood. One thing I have learned is that those who practise evil do not have "can't" in their lexicon.

This is especially galling. I always knew Paul was a twit, wrong-headed in the same ways his namesake author was. But I would not have questioned his "true conservative" credentials until now--his hypocrisy on this is astounding.

Rand Paul considering expanded whistleblower laws for contractors

April 6th, 2014

“We’ve got so many millions of government contractors that when they see something wrong, they should be able to report it without repercussions.”

History is littered with leaders & rulers who loved the power so much and didn't want to give it up that they seized power and then become dictators, usually aided and abetted by a small ruthless group of enforcers who also wanted to cling onto power or in many cases to gain it.

Trump IMO and his dedicated to the cause base, could very easily fall into this category.

Genuine question - Can an amendment be amended by executive order in times of a national emergency?

No. There are very specific powers which the Executive Branch is granted during times of national emergency, and those are primarily found in the Constitution and in the National Emergencies Act of 1976.

I think the NEA is stupid and never should have been passed, because it is an abdication of Legislative Branch responsibility, handing that responsibility to an Executive which can abuse and has abused it (see: DJ Trump). Still, none of the powers the Executive has been granted include the power to amend anything in the Constitution. At most, there may be a temporary suspension of a constitutional protection, such as habeas corpus.

I think people often think of the FDR situation when his mandate was extended when the States got into WW2.

Well, being Commander-in-Chief is part of the President's standard remit . . . what are you referring to as far as his mandate being extended?

I was thinking more that he was extended from the traditional two term periods as President and he done more.

Ahhhh, okay. Yeah, key word being "traditional" as nothing was constitutionally set yet--it was just a convention that Washington had established. But the 22nd amendment, setting that limit to two terms, was pretty quickly passed in Congress in 1947 and state ratification reached critical mass in 1951.

Just read an article where drug traffickers and illegal immigrants are using readily available saws to cut through the new beautiful Wall. When asked Trump stated that this was inc luded in the plans, so that when it happened a new piece could easily be fitted in.

Incumbent Republican governor of Kentucky Matt Bevin LOSES to Democratic challenger Andy Beshear. Kentucky voted in favour of Trump 63 to 33. Trump was at a Kentucky rally on behalf of Bevin the day before yesterday. Beshear won the county where that rally took place by about 74,000 to 37,000 (66-33).

Bevin is not accepting the result. As reported by Daily Kos, he is "fussing like an unchanged toddler", complaining about voting irregularities, which makes no sense because Republicans clearly won every other statewide office just fine. He did everything but wax Trump's balls in the leadup to this election and has paid the price. Mitch McConnell is shitting his shell. #ettd

Both of Virginia's state legislative houses have flipped from Republican to Democrat. Republican Tate Reeves has narrowly beaten Democrat Jim Hood, 52-47, in the Mississippi gubernatorial race. Trump carried that state by 18 points in 2016.

The hapless voters in Kentucky and Virginia have been distracted by the biggest witch-hunt in history, misled by the biased media, voting irregularities, and otherwise fake news by Democrats.

I'm sure Trump Tweets will cover some, or all, of the above.

I think we all get so engrossed in what we are reading and listening to, that we forget that many Americans are just like ourselves and watch what is going on with the insanity that is the White House and vote with their brain and not their heart. That will be the key, if I am correct on election for President day.

There's some controversy over it as apparently such ads have popped up in various cities at various times when he's going around to rallies instead of getting on with the day job.

Trump's administration/campaign has plausible deniability in that they can say "we didn't post these, we don't know anything about this" and, like clockwork, claim fake news.

Whether the advert is real or not one only has to watch one of these campaign stunts to see that there is some less than genuine followers there.  Watch particularly the people directly behind Trump, there is always a cops for Trump, poster , a Trump for blacks poster and a Trump for women poster  when he is speaking. I did point out in a previous post the scripted parts of his presentation particularly the timing  of the protestor. In the last one almost all were wearing the  Read the Transcript T shirts which were obviously issued. One young guy throughout was doing what looked like an actor doing an audition on what an audience member should be doing along with facial and visual actions.

I don't claim to be the smartest card in the deck, but there are some observations I make where I see straight through the method and Donald Trump is one of them.

Little Don Jr now claiming in his new book that after being at Arlington, he "sees the sacrifice that his dad and the family have made for the country, including losing out on international deals worth millions and millions of dollars. Also how nobody in the news reports on it."

I wonder why Don? Did you just compare dying for your country to losing money?

Dying for their country and losing money are two things the Trumps seem to hate to do and will do what it takes to avoid it happening.

Trump's campaign people monitor the actions of the people sitting behind Trump as he speaks.

There was a reported incident a few months ago when a young man was told to vacate his seat, and he was replaced.  Although a Trump supporter, he was not being enthusiastic enough for the TV cameras.

These Trump rallies involve careful choreography.

I think there are ways to do both with dignity, then there are the Trump way which is lie, cheat, deceive and break any of the rules for self preservation. I personally served my country, to be honest I knew people could die, but was young and naive enough to believe that of course it would not be me.

It happens time after time with Trump.  There will be some jaw-dropping revelation which has CNN and others in a frenzy for a day or two, then it completely drops off the radar. I've referred to him as the Teflon man for that reason.

Thing is, this time it didn't even really start out being news. Certainly not to the scale it ought to have been; it was a minor blip.

It's monumentally depressing, yet I'm not sure what else Americans expected given the direction we've been going the last 40+ years.

I have been living in Oklahoma since March 2012. In case you're unaware of it Oklahoma is committed Republican/Trump gun nut religious wacko territory and believe you me the stupidity is mind boggling in large numbers of them but not all of them.
