The Syrian conflict is a derivative of the war in Iraq. It had already started by the time Obama took office.

Obama's Libya policy is no great success, but it was limited to air suppression of Libyan air forces who were going to bomb rebel positions.

What the hell are you talking about?

What the hell are you talking about?

Trump is protecting and encouraging a new Saudi prince who had an opposition journalist tortured then cut up into pieces. He's providing arms for a war in Yemen that has millions of children on the brink of starvation. He cancelled the nuclear deal with Iran which was almost certainly the best piece of American diplomacy since Clinton's assistance with the GFA in NI. He's embraced a dictator in North Korea who tortured an undergraduate at my university to death. He has children in cages on the border, FFS, and has intentionally taken children from their parents in order to try to dissuade people from legally seeking asylum, a violation of international human rights.

Get your head out of your ass.

Can I get back to you ?

I'm up at 6.

I will no doubt be put in my place.

Cameron and Sarkozy are the ones who effed up on Libya. Barry wasn't to blame.

Dump charging $50m a year on golf and profiteering from a DC hotel that's shaking down anyone who wants his ear takes some beating.

No worries. Sorry to call you out.

It's not a fun time in the US right now. Past administrations had flaws. This one is of an entirely different cast.

There are some really interesting, if completely diverse, folk on this thread ....... seriously.

I find myself at times, for want of a better word, quite "envious".

Me, I despise (literally) the bassa. Whether previous incumbents have all had their own agendas or otherwise. (and you don't have to be the Albert Einstein of politics to know that to be the case)

But the fact that not just Mexicans but people from every part of the world want to cross to Australia the US Europe is economic.

I have to laugh at those who think they are progressive who claim who will clean our toilets.

Mexicans Africans wouldn't want to go through the turmoil if we didnt condone the hegemony which promotes greed .

A hegemony which takes us to war.

A hegemony whichexcuses murder as long as we pretend we are on the paper thin difference in policy.

This thread is an example of the delusion .

I call you out not because I like Trump.

But because you offer the same but just less vulgar.

FFS Jake, some person came up with a different, and what I thought was funny, meaning of the acronym MAGA so I posted it, just for fun, I didn't expect that moralistic hissy fit. This thread is gonna give you an ulcer.

Appears it's trendier to abuse Trump.

Easier to do this than the lefty luvvies to do anything about Venezuela and their leader starving hundreds of thousands to death .

probably because as soon as they touched down they would feel the warm love of the socialist governments- ie batons, tear gas, torture and incarceration.

The lefty luvvies as you describe them will and do protest against these regimes, it just doesn't suit your view. When was the last time you stood up and protested against anything outwith your own gain. These comments are usually made by people who do nothing but moan to ease their own consciences.

Do they?

And as for protests, well, not my cup of tea really.

generally the power mad with an agenda herding some sheep for their own, usually equally facile goals that would annoy other people.

Protests, marches, led by brave persons eased racial discrimination in USA, has also worked for womens rights, anti war protests against Vietnam war indicated the publics disagreement with involvement, LGBT protests made quite a difference and changed public perspective of queers, lezzies to the now acceptable Gay. There are protests that are just that, but one has to be careful not to throw out the baby with the bathwater.

Have to admit "luvvies" is one of the appropriated words that bams me right up. It means overeffusive actor, it doesn't (and will never) mean "some daftie from Islington with a sign" no matter how much Richard Littlejohn wants it to.

Just watched a bit of the Cricket World Cup game between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. One Afghan supporter celebrated a boundary by holding up a bit of cardboard with "Trump is a knob" written on it.

Seems like a fair judgement.

It's interesting to hear the Obama was just as bad as Trump arguments.  Straight up, i liked Obama, i dislike Trump.  Here's why.

Obama attempted (and in many cases succeeded) in making the USA a more inclusive and tolerant place for many.  You could feel the difference in the country.  Trump on the other hand plays to people who have a view of the world whereby their kind should be elevated above all else.  You can also feel the level of divisiveness and intolerance rise due to Trump's attitude and rhetoric.

Obama (to my knowledge) didn't abandon any principles or ideals that he held in an all out effort to gain and stay in power, he had a genuine belief in trying to make the USA a better place.  Trump only has one principle or ideal and that is Donald Trump and is quite happy to lend his support to any cause that pays enough for it - whether through providing cash to his campaign or in other ways.

Obama was weak on foreign policy in the main and tried to foster relationships through understanding different views of the world , Trump's foreign policy is scattergun at best and insulting at worst.

Obama began a rebuilding program to stimulate the economy for the good of all.  Trumps economic policies have so far seen a decent return with the US economy being healthy but imo opinion, it's coming at a cost that we don;t yet know due to cuts in environmental protections, regulations on the finance industry and more.

Was Obama the greatest president ever? Absolutely not but i'd rather have someone with a general desire to improve the lives of many as opposed to one with a general desire to improve his life and to hell with the rest.

Hey, all the UK-based folks saying it doesn't matter what a US President does in your world?

Enjoy those post-hard-Brexit negotiations when, in order to cut a deal with the US to save the UK economy, the Tories agree to privatize the NHS and open management contracts up to US healthcare management companies.

They'll tell you it's needed to secure British independence from Europe. Enjoy.
