The methods of registering to vote.

The methods of actually voting.

The methods of collecting those votes.

The methods of counting those votes.

The method of calculating how many members of Congress represent how many people.
The method of calculating how many members of the Senate represent how many people.

The method of how the Electoral College works in choosing a President.

The method of calculating how many College votes a state gets.

The method of how the President appoints Supreme Court members based on political allegiance.

The entire US political system is complete bollocks from grass roots to the Oval Office.

We Yanks are propagandised from birth to conflate capitalism with democracy and socialism with totalitarianism. Some of us eventually open our eyes. Alfa has no such excuse, he's just . . . special.

Has Alfa ever claimed to be American? I genuinely don't know.

No I don't think so. I want to say he talked about getting radicalised by going and seeing Billy Graham in Scotland in the 70s or 80s, but I may be remembering another poster.

It's quite concerning that despite everything Trump has said and done. He still got about 48/49% of the vote.

That said, America seems to vote on the basis of, 'they don't like the other guy' .

Might be while the U.S is classed as a flawed democracy in the Democracy Index.

No probs!

I am still not sure who will win. I think Trump will win Georgia, PA, Alaska, and NC. He might win Arizona too.

Will we find out today? Tomorrow? If Trump loses there will be a recount most likely.

You're off your rocker if you genuinely think that.

Yeah, I believe that is also the case.

What this election shows is how bias the media are in the UK. They've misreported this. Most of us would have expected Biden to win probably a bit more comfortably given how Trump is portrayed by the UK media. Clearly not the case, he's still very popular where it matters.

Georgia has 90k votes to count but will call it probably 10:30 ET

Arizona has 275k votes to count, that wont be today

Nevada has Vegas to count, but will give an update noon ET

Politics Live was very interesting today, pretty much said the Dem's really need to get a handle on why he's so popular and field a candidate next time that can win from the American heartlands, also pointing at the media's coverage and how the blue collar vote has become tired of being lectured to.

Also a similarly interesting piece on CNN saying the same from a (I think) the Democratic Party.

As it stands in Penn, there is stil 750k votes, if Biden takes 60% of those he wins the white house

at this time yesterday he needed 68% of the remaining count.  If I was Trump I would be packing the golf clubs into the back of his Volvo

This is what I originally guessed at:

Georgia might still happen. Most of the uncounted ballots there are around Atlanta, heavily Democratic leaning. The Dems are 7/4 on to win there and Repubs 7/4 against.

Georgia, Pennsylvania & Maine's 1 gives it 290 too.🤔

Also, America encourages this attitude of thinking that anything which doesn’t quite go your way or isn’t quite as it should be is a flagrant breach of your civil liberties (and either worth campaigning about or going to court over). Does any country in the world refer to the constitution so much? It’s the instant go-to for anyone who isn’t getting what they want. Look at these dicks who observe the poll counts. Yes, they should be allowed in but is it really worth rioting over?*

*This has actually been a great example of how Americans react when they feel like they’re about to lose. ‘But but but, the constitution etc’

"Talking in tongues"

I don't remember the exact story in the bible where talking in tongues was a thing but I'm prepared to bet that it wasn't to do with jabbering a bunch of incoherent shite with the "aim" of seeing an offensive orange geriatric get into the most powerful position in the western world.

Ah, changing rapidly. Now 136. Cheers.

...with somewhere between 600 and 650k votes to be counted. 61% of them going Biden's way will see him take Pennsylvania.

Where's the most up-to-date count available? I've been looking at the Economist and the BBC and have a feeling I'm a couple of hours behind.

Yeah, Dems probably thought they had the Latin vote in the bag, given how Trump has addressed the immigration issue. Forgetting that these folk or, their relatives were probably opponents of Socialist Governments in Central America and want to be as far removed as possible from a left leaning candidate.

I'd argue that they could hardly get much further from a left-leaning candidate even if they voted Biden. Other than the baldy-heided, satsuma-faced arsehole.

This entire misconception of 'socialist' absolutely does my nut in!

That's how they may see it though. But I agree, Biden would be a Tory in this Country.

Definitely not.

I have this conversation a lot with my American friends who say the Dems are like the Tories - they are not. Economically they are so left wing. Although having said that, look at what Boris has done to the private sector.

I’d be careful using ‘precincts reporting’ as a guide as that probably doesn’t account for absentee ballots. The media has largely stayed away from using that as a measure this time round as it’s so misleading.
