Ulysses
2 hours ago, Kalamazoo Jambo said: A lot of Senators will either give indications on background to reporters, or will talk to other Senators who in turn talk to journalists. Most likely Senate Republicans for conviction would be Romney, Toomey, Murkowski and Sasse. Collins could be in the mix but who knows as she has no spine. McConnell today indicated he was undecided, but that’s a warning sign for Trump - if he was a hard no, he’d have made that clear. A couple of other factors play in... - Warnock and Ossoff may not get sworn in for several days yet - technically, it’s not 67 votes but rather two thirds of those present. So if anyone decides not to show up... I was under the incorrect impression that a resignation or departure from office had the effect of bringing impeachment proceedings to an end. The fact that the Senate can conclude the process after Trump's term of office has finished could change things. It could give McConnell et al an opportunity to purge Trump and his supporters from the Republican party.

Hagar the Horrible
Despite his second impeachment, it was still a sad indictment of US politics, that only 10 GOP members were brave enough to vote for impeachment, a lot were fearful of repercussions from Ra Peepul when they left the safety of the CAPITOL. Problem is Impeachment is one thing being a big brave boy with his big boy pants on is he is like the worlds worst internet troll, A keyboard warrior who attacked the Capitol with ease, despite hiding behind the safety of the same people he was attacking. He would have had a modicum of respect if he was at the front of the crowd instead of hiding in his bunker. However he can still do a lot worse from that bunker, as that was a small militia, not only can he still do a lot of damage in 6 days in his ivory tower, once he is outside the tent pissing in, backed with 70m voters of which 50m believed it was stolen due to his lies, he has stirred up all the crazies big style, next week is going to be some watch, in all states. On a scale this could end up with timeless conspiracy theories gaining momentum and be added to the top of the list above the moon landings and JFK’s assassination, that would be the best scenario as the worst is unimaginable, The military and the cops are usual republican in nature. The rest of the world are looking at this, the Russians need to send out for more vodka as Trump has dome more damage than they could achieve with any cyber attack. Britain and the rest of Europe are looking at this from under a duvet, the Middle east ululating a Guinness book of records mass zaghrouta . America has to hope that impeachment is enough and a proper trial will commence, but allowing Trump to save face in the eyes of the world won’t go down well. He has gone fully insane, and the GOP members who stuck by him, might regret their actions. The latest i can think of is having Chinese companies delisted from the stock exchange and banning Chinese payment processors both of which i think are actually good moves. Trying to control China is not easy - Trump's tariffs were a bit silly because they had to bail out farmers. Banning Chinese tech from infrastructure is a starting point (like the UK) there's many other ways to stop Chinese influence like blocking foreign buy outs of US companies etc.

An alleged communist government seem to be pretty good at this capitalism lark. I wouldn’t take sides as they all have massive flaws in my opinion.
