I was more impressed with Turnbull to be honest. Thought he was calm and composed in midfield but kept the ball moving quickly and helped Motherwell transition from defence to attack

FWIW I agree. Hastie took his goal well, but didn't do much else.Turnbull looks a player, very similar, just a bit more mature, then Harry C.

Runs all day, absolutely lethal when he cuts back inside onto his left foot.

19 years old. Bags of potential.

Contract runs out at the end of season.

Sign him up Hearts ffs.

So many players we just don't bother with. Greg Stewart style.

Sounds like Jamie Walker in his early years with us. Nicolson too. Both got slagged on here. No point signing Hastie or Turnbull. If they're not superstars after one game that'll be that.

The reality is, is that top emerging talent aren't going to leave Motherwell for Hearts when they can go straight down south.

We'll get the odd player like Souttar, who was in the doldrums before he joined us, and hope we can turn them into a diamond.

Is this the same guy that did less at Alloa than Dario Zanatta has?

Lets wait and see a bit more than 5 games before we declare him the new messi

He went to Alloa because he wasn't fit.

He looks fit now and has the right build to make it.

That left foot is lethal as well.

We've got talented youngsters but most of them are built like spaghetti (cochrane for example)

Cochrane is fine - too much is made of that Scott Brown incident but that was just Brown being thuggish. Quite a lot of footballers look skinny but as long as they are not carrying any fat, they should be tough enough to succeed.

Oh, and we won't get Hastie as he will be targeting a move to an English Championship side in the next two years.

Which means Motherwell will be entitled to a development fee. Several clubs from down south are widely rumoured to be interested in him too and will presumably take advantage of the same cross-border rule as Rangers have previously.

It's not a game of Football Manager where we can just go out and pluck the best young players out there.  The lad has burst on to the scene out of what appears to be nowhere but lets bash the coaching staff regardless.

What’s happened to all the young boys we brought into the team last year?

Best youth development in Scotland if not the world so we're told

I hear what you are saying. However. Young Hastie looks to have something about him.

A true test of a player is how they get on against Celtic. But then everyone knows how good they are and probably out of the question.

Motherwell play Celtic on Sunday.

Hastie is playing well v everything

But he'd turn down Hearts with a smile like many players in this league IMO. But plenty wouldn't as well, Edinburgh lads with talent we should be interested in. Even supporters of that lot across the city could be tempted.

That should be our policy in the future

Motherwell would be liable to get a 300k development fee for him. Close thread.

We paid £200,000 for a guy that get's nowhere near the first team,

It's not out of the question.

Pasquale for King

This boy looks like a player, I don’t think the management can be slated for not signing him yet. We should maybe make a move now though and see if it’s worth paying the compensation that they’re due.
