The red card.

Looked very harsh to me clearly took the ball didn’t lead with his studs.

I didn’t even think it was a free kick the Motherwell player just over ran it.

He's lunged in with two feet. Despite winning the ball there is no chance that will get over turned on appeal. Unfortunately thats the rules these days

Red card. Off his feet, out of control, scissors motion. It's a red card.

This unfortunately. Bygone years great tackle. This day and age red all day long

Noticed for the first time that BT Sport have a referee who gives his opinion and he reckoned it was a red too.

Thought he won the ball but like people have said it doesn’t matter. He went in too hard with both feet. Red card.

Yes, looked like it was on instruction of the linesman. Which was odd, as the ref should have had clear view. Can understand why the linesman thought it was a foul, but he had worse view than the ref.

Sums up a poor performance from the ref today. I could understand if he went though the player to win the ball but he goes in front of him.

Great tackle, 25 years ago.

Studs up, off the ground red card all day long now.

Shame, he won the ball, however that does not matter.

Out of control, feet of ground, red card.

Also needless, guy was going no where.

That's two reds from that ref in his last two games he's had us. Djoum in the Livingston shambles at the Spaghettihad too. Thought Garuccio was hard done by, he won the ball as clean as could be

Timing is not the issue. The issues are the ones I mentioned.

He was off the ground as he goes into the tackle, but that’s part of natural movement. Motherwell guy was the same. It wasn’t dangerous or high. It was not even a ****ing foul.

Terrible decision.

It’s a red card, jumped in two footed off the ground, doesn’t matter a **** if he won the ball, it’s a banned challenge, you simply are not allowed to do it. It’s like spearing someone in Rugby, illegal tackle, cheerio.

I've not watched the game, so can't comment on the tackle.

However, after reading some of the comments on this thread regarding "he won the ball", it's irrelevant these days if you win the ball or not, the rules have changed and just from reading the comments it sounds like a red card.

Didn't actually see the tackle if you think there was a scissor motion in there.

Bored with this now. Every ****ing week we're not playing at home we're chucking points away. Do we need a sports psychologist in to try and address this?

As have I. His other leg comes round (bent btw) because how else does his leg bend?

Please stay away from sharp objects if you think that's how scissors work.

Timed it well, both players facing each other, won the ball and had the ball under control after the tackle, at no point was the motherwell player at risk of Injury.

Not a red to me, but modern football disagrees

No chance of winning any appeal now after Leveins comments.

Hard to imagine a manager’s comments being that influential in an appeal hearing.

I've not read all the comments but based on the number of Hearts fans agreeing that it's a red card suggests that it probably is.

I'll watch it later myself to see whether I think it was or wasn't a red.
