For those of you interested Hearts women won their opening league game today away to Hamilton by 2-1 .

Winning whilst not at their best and going a goal behind , good start to the season .

Why are we wasting money on a women's team, would be far better spent strengthening our first team, or opening a second fans bar or something.

well done, a good victory. Just saw the goals and the first Hearts goal is fantastic.

Hope we can get promoted to the top league. Though seems crazy that the top league only has 8 teams.

Why is one of the players sitting down on the pitch at the start, quite a bizarre scene. One can only wonder what that Hamilton keeper had in her head as that ball floated in the sky towards her, no idea how she hasn't saved that.

Watched the highlights, the first goal reminds me of the time David seamen got beat from 50 yards, goal was well taken.

Don't think it's long until we see the ladies game being made professional.

More specifically, the 'goalkeepers' I honestly reckon I'd do a better job in goals.

You are ignoring that it was a decent hit and vision for the strike. But rock on - be the mysoginistic big man....

Ford Prentice

For our first goal player nutmegs opponent then lobs keeper from about 40 yards. Keeper could have done better but still a cracker. I would like our woman's team to be one of the best in the country. Gammons go back to your Daily Mail.

Since my other post was deleted.  I'll tone it down as this also covers what I was saying.

Serious question , if it doesn’t interest you why post about it ?

Well done, ladies. Don't get the negativity. Who cares if the quality isn't as good as the men's game? If it gets more women interested in the game and insipires more girls to play, more power to it.

Wankers for vocalising it, maybe so.

They're both right though.

Here's where I am with women's football.

I think it's great, I really do.  Like all women's sports, and sports that ALL groups play, if I'm interested then I'll watch, but in my opinion, the standard is nowhere near worth the same platform that the mens game, and I don't think we can kid on it deserves to be there.  It's like F1 v Stock Car Racing.  Here's another thing I do not agree with, the 'token' woman doing match analysis, I think that's more insulting!!

I do think womens football might get there and the seeds have been planted to grow the game, I certainly need educating in how it's growing and deserves to be treated on an even keel, I do admit that.

The goalkeeping for the first two goals was very weak especially the Hamilton keeper. The lassie that scored the winner I used to work alongside.

Personally I don’t think it’ll ever get on a par with the men’s game. That said it will hopefully grow to a decent level as the years go by and I hope that Hearts women go onto challenge the top teams , certainly in Scotland . On a different level the women’s game in England ,given the population size , is growing fast and there are  plenty of women making a good living from the game , many of them really good players .

If if you ever decide to come along to watch a game the best bit of advice I can give is try not to compare it to the men’s/boys games you normally watch , yes it’s slower , keepers can be suspect but there is no less commitment from those playing .Games tend to liven up in the las times 15 mins or so when tiredness creeps in .

The original poster simply pointed out a victory for Hearts Women. They won an away game at their own level and it’s got absolutely nothing to do with their ability compared to our men’s sides.

No. She will barely remember me. She wasn't at Haymarket ticket office very long.

Good start to the season, hoping to take my daughter along to a few games when I can. Presuming we're planning on treating the ladies' team more seriously going forward, someone should really have a word with our captain for their Twitter bio:

I played with her at Tynie Hearts about 15 years ago. She was a good player then, though very, very lazy.

She has always been a big Hibby ... should be keeping it to herself a wee bit more now she is with Hearts Women though

It doesn’t matter if you want to watch it or not but disparaging it and slating female players is horseshit.

I am no SJW - quite the opposite, i’ll leave that for champagne socialists - but quite basic sexism should have no place on here.

Surprised the mods haven’t tidied up this thread to be honest.

@redmfeel free to hit me with a warning for that if you want.
