Jake Hastie

Hastie certainly looks promising. Chris Cadden is another Motherwell player out of contract at the end of the season too. These are the types of players we should be targeting - players that know the league and also have sell-on potential. It worked with the 'class of 98' with players like Weir, Cameron and McCann having been signed from smaller clubs.

If cadden has sell on potential why hasnt he been sold on?

Not sure he's any better than players we already have.

Looks very good and I wouldn’t think the compensation would be too much.

In terms of our transfer strategy, we should be attempting (as long as it suits financially) to pick up the better players from the other teams in the league outwith  the Old firm.

We do need something a bit different

surely that is playing a different style of football to an extent and if not would he be able to fit into our particular brand?

Well seem to be really good at developing/nurturing these types of player.  Wonder what the secret is.

Playing them.

They aren't under as much pressure to finish high up the league so can afford to give them game time.

McCann, Cameron, Weir, Hartley are all great examples of players signed by smaller clubs who can reach there peak with us so players like Hastie and cadden should be looked at imo as should old firm fringe players (Niemi, Ferguson)

this is where the bargains are. Players like Mulraney, Reilly, Burns are a bit risky unless there wages are ridiculously low. We certainly shouldn’t be offering these guys much more money than they were on to secure them.

Lord Beni of Gorgie

Looks quite a talent. Host of clubs watched him on Wednesday. Closer to hand we will have to pay him some attention next Sunday. Bold statement but a far better player than Cadden from what I can see

When was the last time we produced a player with such apparent attacking intent and quality who generated interest from other clubs so early? We have a supposed top quality academy with coaches to match and yet where is the talent.... Last season seems a one off in terms of giving young players game time. Jury still out on Morrison in my opinion.

Cochrane?  Or the 15/16 year old (Leonard?) who went down south last year for 200k or so.  That was certainly early, he hadn't even played for our first team.

Motherwell have recently put faith in their up and coming young midfielders like Turnbull & Hastie. Starting them at the expense of experienced guys like McHugh & McCormack. Their enthusiasm has worked out well and both are performing and scoring.

We should at least try the same and certainly should have Cochrane in before Lee, who has one good game in ten.

We had wide men who could produce moments like this a few years ago, Nicholson and Walker. Unless they do it every week our fans soon get the hump!
