Sexton Hardcastle

If they have a golden boot people would also take the piss. Harmless banter like the irn bru cup giving bottles of irn bru for motm.

Awful isn't it?

We are so small time in this country.

How about the ‘Tartan bootee’ then?

Thought Dobbie would've been top tbh. Solid stuff from Henderson though, dare I say playing below his level? Not a "do a job?" type post

Why not?

Don't see the cringe myself, it's a bit of a laugh.

I think that's the point.

We are meant to be a professional organisation, yet I always get the feeling the ***** in charge of our game are just having a piss take.

'We are in Scotland, let's call it something to do with Tartan'...great idea...?

Nah I like it, light-hearted banter is good for the game up here.

Winds me up something chronic, so little originality they call things in Scotland tartan/haggis/bagpipe or some other guff, none of which are Scottish in origin anyway.

If you wanna take it even further it's a racist term to use.

33 but only 18 of which are league goals, with 3 in the scottish, 8 league cup and 4 classed as 'other' which i presume is the ramsdens or whatever it is called

Who comes up with this cringeworthy, gimmicky pish.

What was wrong with the golden boot?

I’d rather have that than some shitty tartan wellie.

Wonder how many Morelos would be on if he was refereed like other players? ?

Just looking at the top scorers the now, quite surprised to see that Cosgrove on 9 goals this season and also Kenny Miller on 7, fair play to him tbh. I thought he was finished about 8 year ago but he continues to get his goals.

Tough to score any goals when you are suspended

Whether you like it or not, Tartan is synonymous with Scotland.

Exactly. No point cringing about it. (I think some people just cringe at the fact they're Scottish)

It's not like they've called it The Haggis Boot or The Tablet Boot.

Why do some Scottish people hate Scotland ?

Would there be such disrespect shown if Ireland called their equivalent the Shamrock boot ?

Tartan is Scottish so what's the problem ?

The golden boot is synonymous with the top strikers an competitions in history - The World Cup, European Championships. Top leagues like the Premiership and Serie A.

You wouldn't even name a top goalscoring award for a Sunday amarure league the Tartan Boot. It's embarrassing, cringy, plays right into stereotypes and what others think our shite excuse for football in this country.

That said I wish we had a striker good enough to win one. Has been a long time.

True.

Couldn't find any sexy tartan football boots though. Gap in the market there.

Oh and joking aside it is just a bit of fun.

Nothing wrong with taking a bit of pleasure from football in Scotland and having a laugh with it :)
