Pretty easy win for Newcastle in the end although it was an exciting one to be at as it was so important  to both teams. Newcastle were really nervy until Cardiff let their central defender waltz through their defence without a challenge for the first goal. Cardiff were seriously bad - Newcastle goalie didn’t have a save to make and Cardiff had no attacking threat at all. Dr Funk won his fair share of flick ons but they never came to anything and he was pretty uninvolved otherwise and looked a bit frustrated. Think he could lose his place once their new striker arrives from Nantes and think Cardiff are odds on for relegation now. A good day out nevertheless.

Going back for the Man City match at the end of this month.

Agree with SPG, he won most of his flick ons, got in decent positions nut there was ZERO service/ support for him.

Constantly greeting to the bench about lack of service. Looked like the only Cardiff player who gave a dam.

Newcastle were poor, Cardiff were horrendous.

Anyone keeping tabs on CP recently? Looking at the Cardiff website he seems to be getting a game but not making the headlines just now.

Glamorgan Jambo

Playing in right midfield just now. They brought in a centre forward on loan from Everton who's the regular starter now. Dr Funk has already reached legend status down here.

People said that about him playing in defence.....and they are right, its just as well then that he is played in a position better suited to him.

Still can't get over us playing our best attacking player in defence at a time when when we were crying out for a striker.

The Bookkeeper

Having a big influence on the team. Huge win today and he was heavily involved in both goals, particularly the first one. If the worst should happen and Cardiff are the 3rd team to go along with Huddersfield and Fulham he is positioning himself as a very versatile and ever improving player for another bottom half EPL side. This will be good news for us given how much those type of players go for these days.

He will have his work cut out for him now that they are signing some proper strikers.

Which is fun to watch.

Modern wing backs must feel like they are having to tackle a charging American fridge freezer all game.

For some weird reason he scored more goals as a defender than a centre forward.

Still can't get my head around Sol flippin' Bamba playing in the EPL.

I'm 46 and haven't played anything other than 5-a-sides since primary school, but I still think that if Bamba's playing in that league, there's a chance for me yet!

People couldn’t believe it when Locke played him up front, and mocked him for it.

Holy cow I just remembered that Sol Bamba played for Hibs!!

From his wiki page:

"He made his competitive debut for the club in Dunfermline's opening league match of the season, a 2–1 defeat to Hearts.[11] On 2 December 2006, Bamba was sent off for the first time in his professional career after pushing Steven Naismith in the chest during a 5–1 defeat to Kilmarnock.[12]"

:clyay:

A former Hibs player,, lost to Hearts on his first game in Scotland and sent off for foul against Naismith in a 5-1 defeat?

He wasn't a good striker tho.

He scored more goals from other areas as well.

You wouldn't want him to be your main striker in this league, never mind the Epl.

He's effective in most areas and a good player, but he's never a clubs main striker.

He wasn’t a good defender.   He was better further forward.

Warnock noticed this, and said it, almost immediately.

That must be a delayed reaction to the training he did here.

Either that or Cardiff's training regime is a bad as ours:laugh:

Happened on Scotland duty. Forrest also picked up an injury. Souttar was injured on Scotland duty too. Clearly there is an issue with the Hampden surface, Scotland's training regime, and the SFA medical staff. When will someone act?
