I'd like to see us tap into the Portuguese market again. A quicker version of Bruno, for example.

A young, exciting talent, needing experience. Sure there's one or two out there...

Wolves? Lots of Portuguese talent there at the moment

Young, Herrera and Gomes were the subs in that game.

He isn’t Portuguese though. English through and through.

No. Not saying the team.

For a variety of reasons. I'll let Barry Anderson work this one out on his own.

When I hear more concrete info, although credible as i believe this is, I'll share it.

Fair enough, cheers

That club Wolves by any chance - Cathro's there now  eh?

Doubt it unless Cathro's a very forgiving chap towards the club who fired him.

Thanks for the info. Did your source say or make out if the player was good.

His father is Portuguese.

This confirms it for me. This lad looks an exciting prospect and having Naismith to learn from as well.

Aye him, that's who he reminds me of.

Rory McAllister of Peterhead would be another.

Aye.  Whether some fans like it or not bigger clubs, or scouts of bigger clubs, will look at other attributes to a players game and decide whether that will help them make the step up.

Some players comfort zone is playing at a lower level. Maybe they mentally can’t handle a higher level where the expectancy is there week after week to perform?

This is just an personal opinion but I think back to Stevie Crawford’s playing days and how we were linked at one time nearer the end of his career, but I didn’t want him near us.

The guy would rattle in 20 odd goals for Dunfermline but I felt he was pretty ordinary generally.

You need to contribute as a forward if there’s days you aren’t finding the net. Some players rely on service, otherwise they are found wanting in other parts of the game.

Yep, but born in England and played for them at nearly every age group.

But not English through and through.......

Anyway.....this started off as a joke as he’s part Portuguese and has a ridiculously big name.

I’m not convinced Man Utd would loan us anymore players. Difficult to see how we’ve developed Mitchell. If anything he’s went backwards.

5’3 wouldn’t last 2 mins sadly in Scottish football.

It's no-one from the Premiership, people.

To stop getting everyone overly excited. Not Manchester Utd, not Everton, not Ian Cathro's Wolves.

If I get more, you will hear about it. I promise you.

Keatings, Reilly, etc. never scored at anywhere near the rate Shankland is scoring at so it's a useless comparison. Rory McAllister has never played in the first division/Championship.

Christ Almighty, I know they are not clones of each other.

They do however remind me of Shankland. I'm not saying that this should be the case for anyone else on here but nothing you say will stop it being so for me.

Leonardo da Silva Lopes?

Young Portuguese wide midfield player who's not getting a game at WIgan at the moment (and has a big name).

This is the correct answer ?

Fair enough, I'm always reminded of James Keatings though when I hear about how a prolific goalscorer in the lower leagues will thrive in the Premier league.

Maybe more like Gavin Reilly or Nicky Clark. Both prolific in the championship but nowhere near good enough for the premier league.

Hmm. He played regularly last season at Peterborough before signing a 4 year deal at Wigan in the summer, which sounds impressive. However,  looking at Twitter, it seems Peterborough fans thought he was terrible and were amazed they got money for him. He's barely been seen at Wigan this season..

Not much to shout about in that Youtube video either. Seems to fall over half the time he strikes the ball.

Not massively enthused by this one.

Fall into the Emerson Hyndman  show pony bracket.

In a loan. Unless it's desperate cover it's good to have an idea what you are getting.

Would save the cash personally
