What an awful game of football, take the three points though.

Pretty much, an ugly win is often the way out of a hole though.

Spot on.

Stops the rot though.

Defence looked solid.

Thank god, got it exactly what we set out for.

I thought Michael Smith was magnificent in the first half drifted off and we invited the pressure which seems to be the management style.

We soaked it up and by no means was it pretty to watch but we got what we wanted so happy days.

Motherwell are crap. Still, that's 3 out of 3 against them this season. Long may that sort of consistency continue.

They have a performance in them though, some good results in amongst the bad this season, just a wildly inconsistent team.

Strangely enough the amount of people who say the other team are crap when we win.

Usually by people who lack the knowledge and awareness to understand most games/teams in the SPFL are crap.

What we served today is the norm.

Dear lord, Motherwell are bad.

We're not very good either - but players to come back, and a win is a win is a win.

League table tonight makes remarkable reading.

What’s remarkable about it?

Missing Souttar and his ability to start attacks from the start. Can never criticise  Cpt Fantastic for his defending and leadership but too many of our defenders aimlessly punt it when there is time to play it to feet and start something from the back.

The other team were crap. Very crap. It was painful viewing for a lot of that. But that's often the way of it when a team has been on a poor run, as we were coming into this.

Way back in 02/3, after a remarkable start, Hearts seemed to be in trouble. A humping at Tynie by Rangers wasn't great; a collapse at Motherwell was bloody alarming. We had injuries, the squad looked very shallow, many of us had started looking down the table, not up it.

But then we ground out two enormously important, but hideously ugly home wins. Not much football at all - but the problems had suddenly passed, and we headed into Xmas back on our feet and playing well again: really well at Parkhead and Dens. And suddenly, we were the team to beat for 3rd... which we ended up sealing pretty comfortably.

That season was Levein at his best. He has a way of grinding out results - a 'B' game, if you like - which keeps his teams in contention. So hopefully we can push on now, just as we did back then.

Hearts win. West Ham win. Might be the first time this season for a Jamhammer double.

Painful to watch at times but YAAS!

Only 3 points off the top - after (heading into today), 2 points from 18. That's remarkable... and quite exciting, given we can surely only get better.

And, but for two crappy refereeing decisions, we would be  joint top

Predicts ‘a draw if we’re lucky’

We win and it’s still not enough.

exactly. When you are in a long run without a win, the players confidence is shot to pieces and it plays on their mind. So they need to grind it out like this to win. Add into this that Motherwell play in a way that is designed to stop any football being played. Now they have been buoyed by a win and confidence will be up.

This is the crap Motherwell team that took a point from Celtic last time out !

Well said they were a well organized team who actually passed the ball way better than we did... but we got three very valuable points today.

The table exactly reflects season form. We are there because that is how we have performed against the other 11 teams. We were able to stay in touching distance and weather a poor run of results because we were amassing points all over the place, before the worst run of injuries to key players I can ever remember. Nothing remarkable about it. We are having a good season and it’s reflected in that table.

It’s amazing how infrequent it is for me. Feared the worst today as the game wore on. As folk have said above sometimes a horrible win is what’s required. They don’t come much more horrible than this. At least it gives the whiners something to cling on to as well so a unified KB

Happy Days

Im disgusted we didn't score 8. Losing all our best players is no excuse nor to be running away with the title

Jesus mannn it was a win , guys will be nervous as and feel under pressure. Just not winning in a few is bad enough when you feel the officials are against you too it doubles that pressure and nervousness. You almost expect it to go against you.

We won , they worked hard but tbf Motherwell just didn’t look like troubling us.

Great 3 points, clean sheet.

Thought we set up to suit the players available, so well done to Levein for that.

Was not a great game of football, but we seemed focused on the job at hand, restricting Motherwell to very little for all their possession.

Confidence is down its **** were in front. Nerves kick in and you get caught in a mentality of what do we do now push on or sit back. Its so difficult without the added nerves and pressure of worrying about ref decisions. In saying that the scrappy win will help.

Was same as Rangers game get in front , pressure , nerves kick in and our composure went. Composure was a bit better today we looked like we could still pass a ball second half at times.

Enjoy it and lets kick on

If someone offered us 3 points and a scrappy victory before a ball was kicked today i reckon most of us would have taken it and moved on to the next match. Any win is a good win and the 3 points are long over due.

We didn't play well but it's a good result.

Our passing was poor and our finishing just as bad.

We lacked creativity and width throughout.

McLean is not a lone striker but he's doing the best he can.

I thought Clare looked better at times but still looks sloppy and lacks concentration at others.

Not sure about Godinho at all.

Smith, Berra, Clevid, Zlamal and Haring were all solid and got us over the line.

Best player for me was Djoum but he even drifted in and out of the game.

Wish we'd stop the long ball shit as we're terrible at it. Hope we can keep limping on and picking up as many points as possible until our stars return.

Well done Hearts!

Long ball game out of necessity because we can't play through the midfield or keep the ball there as things stand. Godinho had a good first half but faded, crying out for Morrison in the last half hour.

Brandon is better than Godinho and will be back soon. Were only a few games away from getting a lot of players back. If we need to win ugly until the break then so be it. I also wanted Morrison on in the last quarter but i appreciate why he wasnt brought on.

Delighted with the three points though!

As with Rangers and Kilmarnock games we started very brightly but fell away badly. Very important three points. Hopefully grind out another ugly win on Friday.

That was a battle but a very good defensive performance.

Smith was excellent.

Djoum is certainly improving game by game aswell.

Appreciate Morrison started the season quite well but people have constantly called for him to start or be brought on earlier in recent weeks but when he has I havent seen much from him that shows he would have changed or did change the game.

One for the future but I fully understand why hasn’t had huge amounts of game time.

Godinho has zero confidence and is a bomb scare at the moment. Clare cannot get into the game, haring looks knackered. If we had everyone playing well we would be fine. Seem to be playing with 8 or 9 today.

Agree with you about Godhino and Haring.

Disagree about Clare - thought he did quite well today and I can see every game that he is making small improvements - I'm starting to think that when he fully settles, he will be crucial for us.
