Good guy footballers

Jenks

Recommended Posts

Just back from Perth. Not a great result after sitting with my wee 10 year old girl in the cold. Step forward Marcus Godinho who came over after his warm down and gave my wee girl his match shirt. It's great when the players give things back. Anybody have any nice experiences of their own to lighten the mood?

McLean is a lovely bloke, I know he recently handed over loads of Hearts gear to a raffle for a lad local to him who needs a specialist wheelchair following an amputation.

Lord Beni of Gorgie

Derek Riordan, has to be an advance on Alfredo!

Not going to be a popular one, but I spent the entire evening with Billy Dodds on a stag do, found him to be anything like the public persona. Charming, polite and talked about everything and anything, not just football. Great guy.

A lot of folk say that despite his onfield moaning and general nippiness Steven Naismith is an absolute pussycat off the pitch and a really nice fella.

Never met him so can't say for sure.

Met Robbo, very nice man as you'd expect. I have also met  Ramon Pereira, who I was star struck meeting, but he seemed a nice man and his wife seemed nice too. Also met Ian Murray recently, seemed a nice guy, i didn't mention some moments in his career though, maybe for the best

I was sitting in a nice cafe in France tiny town and saw Gerrard Houllier with his mother. Still Liverpool gaffer at the time. Happily spoke to me and my uncle and booked us a table a nice local restaurant that we'd previously been told was great but fully booked..

Lovely man

Dont ever play football against him. Total clogger now :clyay:. Met him a couple of times and he's one of those guys who has lived his dream. Kevin James is another one. An absolute gent with a heart of gold.

i love the story of just before the hearts legends v jkb select was about to kick off. Locke was asking every jkb'r if they were (cant remember which member) as he wanted words with hm due to the slagging he got on here. the member iirc tried to hide from locke

Colin Cameron is the only player I've met he was sound. I dunno how they handle getting pestered by grown men with a man crush all the time.

Words? Think he was planning to half whoever he was. Don’t think the member was actually even playing.

they certainly didn’t take it easy on us!!!

I’ve met Colin Cameron, Connor Sammon and Henry Smith at various times. They were all really decent blokes and happy to chat.

On a similar type of subject, but not really..... my Mrs sent me a message about an hour ago. In recent times at her work they have had the likes of Anthony Joshua in at her work at a sky call centre. Anyway tonight they had another ‘celebrity’ in. Her text made me smile and I’m sure it will please a few of you too. I will leave the rest up to my Mrs, here is the message she sent me....

’We have an ex Celtic player in sky tonight. Andy Walker is his name...... the managers are trying to get folks off to go and speak to him and get photos with him and no one wants to come off the phone! It’s pretty funny!’

Doctor FinnBarr

I met Andy McLaren at work today, remember him? Dundee Utd and Reading (before he failed a drug test). Went through rehab and made a comeback for Killie.

He now, amongst other things, is a volunteer councilor for Chris' House in Motherwell which helps people with addictions/ mental health problems. Really nice guy who openly admitted to his previous lifestyle. Good to see him put something back.

I’ve actually met Michael Stewart in a bar in Rose St and he was fantastic. Was a bit worried about him being a knob. He didn’t want to talk about football though, only politics.

Robbo.

Met him a few times up in Inverness.  Always got time for a wee chat or a hello.

Ladies man tho, met him in the suite as he was doing his rounds, wouldn't leave my wife alone ?

Would have put me in a dilemma, ask to watch or leave them alone?

Thankfully he moved on to younger lassies.

I've heard him on the radio. Seems a very nice guy. Putting a lot back into his community.

Takis Fyssas was an absolute gent, as you would expect.

Also met Scott Crabbe fairly recently at a charity football event and he spent ages talking to me and my mate who is a Falkirk fan and idolised him. Seemed a genuinely nice bloke.
