McGill’s in Currie is very good, as is the aforementioned Saundersons.

George Bower in Stockbridge another one.

McGills of course. Their pies are excellent.

Butchers at Bruntsfield just a few doors east of Greggs is Wm Christie & Son - very good butcher!

Is that the same Christie as on Broughton Street?

What way do you go to the meadows?  ?

Christie's is close to Greggs, on the left heading down towards the Meadows.

Saunderson's is on the right down close to the meadows and Tollcross, not near Greggs.

It's been there for years, not sure of it's still the Christie family that own and run it.

Why? Its a ****ing pain in the arse but not sad. Buying the meat in the butchers is a lot more expensive in my experience but supporting local business is good and if you buy the correct meat it will taste better. I've cooked (in fact done the whole of Christmas) for 15 years, catering for as many as 20. This year there will be 7 or 8. I'd rather **** off on my own but my family seem to like it.

How you set the whole thing up is almost as important as what you cook. Don't forget the little things like cranberry (depending on the meat your having) bread sauce etc. Make the table look good, don't buy cheap crackers and make sure adults are half cut before they sit down.

Correct, opposite Montpeliers. One of the sons from the butchers drinks in Montys.
