Game being played tomorrow.

Will the Boca players just stay overnight at the stadium to avoid their bus windows being panned in again? ;)

With or without any fans

With I assume.

They couldn’t stop an extra few hundred sneaking in the gates today so don’t know how they would stop 70,000 noised up argies getting in.

See what happens now though

Maybe the fans will just go home peacefully now, or...

People just going home

They keep showing a clip from inside the ground of a group of youths running from something?

The ones coming off the worst, for me, are FIFA.

Telling Boca if they didn't play the game they'd be disqualified.

Broadcasters run the show. Think it was fox in this case. They would have paid no doubt millions to show this and they would put the squeeze on to ensure that happened. Same thing probably happened with sky getting that spurs city game played on the awful pitch the other week when it should have been switched.

Nothing to do with FIFA.

CONMEBOL tried to force them to play.

Pretty sure there was some involvement from FIFA saying they would be penalised if they didn’t take the field.

Beleive it was because CONMEBOL wouldn’t make a call they stepped in. Naturally the broadcasters/money played a part.

Maybe try a less conspicuous vehicle next time  :kirklol:

 I was thinking this too. Obviously it shouldn't matter, but maybe a massive blue boca juniors branded bus flanked by a dozen police motorbikes with sirens on driving past massive crowds of river plate fans wasn't the correct way to go about it.

So, tonight (or in future) they arrive in an unmarked bus with no police escort.

The idiots would still pelt it with missiles.

edit (add):

I liken this to the Man City bus treatement by the Liverpool fans.

Disqualification needs to be considered for this behaviour, it's disgraceful.

Simple

Game behind closed doors

Surprised Liverpool not getting that punishment

It would certainly be a step in the right direction.

Or drive them in using a number of police riot vehicles - they should withstand a rock or two. Or maybe even army tanks, helicopters? :)

Seems the River Plate players were unwilling to play the game when they found out about the injuries to the Boca Juniors players.

A little bit of unity within the madness. Seems the main reaction is embarrassment and even shame in Argentina.

This feels never ending.

Even if it actually starts, and plays to a conclusion, a River victory will be just the beginning. I doubt very much Boca will just accept defeat without protest after last night's events. After all, they were ejected from the Libertadores a few years back when their fans attacked River's players at half time in the 2nd leg. Inside the stadium or outside surely doesn't matter.

Still not a patch on the 2012 final or it's importance...

:clubbed:

...and nothing could match the post-final whining and squirming of the Hibby.

Maybe, but if you watch the top front windows carefully, you can see people on the bus taunting the crowd - I don't feel like they'd particularly fancy stealth mode

Question for US based folks...

What channel is the game being shown? I cannot find it, despite having a massive (TV) package! I'm with Spectrum/Time Warner and cannot see a listing.

Might not be in the listings due to the new day/time. The listing for it being on BT3 over here only updated this afternoon.

Postponed indefinitely.

Seen some videos of the scenes yesterday and in the city after wards, ****ing hell. Not surprised the Boca players are unwilling to play given the projectiles thrown during the first leg!

They waited to allow fans into the stadium again before making this decision despite having 24hrs to come to this conclusion. What a complete embarrassment the whole thing has become. Shambolic doesn’t come close to summing it up.

I've got to connect my HDMI to my lap top but it's a decent picture on the big screen.

Call the 2-2 draw the final and therefore a shared trophy. Alternatively, declare it unrewarded like the 1909 Scottish Cup final...

...and hope there's not another final in the future.

Ridic.
