Nonsense - there has been no criticism of him from the coaching staff.  If anything there have gone out there way to praise his efforts. You are at it.

Nonense ? Liam Fox , tore into him about his efforts . Will stick by saying he has a long way to go

He said something along the lines of "when are you going to come good?" didn't he?

Or people are over-egging an off the cuff comment from Austin to try and justify the over the top criticism they have given him.

Happy to see him getting a lot closer to the standard i expect from someone starting  in maroon, playing in that area of the pitch. Great goal tonight. More

of the same please Sean :)

as long as you are happy mate !

Personally, I could see glimpses of his quality within his 1st few games (despite obvious lack of fitness).

He is now gaining confidence and understands the game up here !

Along those line, he has responded to it , which is good . I think he probably shows a great amount of talent in training , which is probably frustrating for the coaching staff if it does not translate on actual game day

I think alot of the criticism has been justiifed , I also think he was overly hyped upped before he came here , which did not help him in any way. Plenty left of the season for him to keep progressing and to bang in more goals.

Thought Police

I kept thinking when he was playing his first few games that I’d really like to see him alongside Naismith and have Naisy talk him through games. Might be starting to see the benefits of him playing in a confident team.

He honestly just seems to be getting more and more class every game, the goal against Livingston has boosted his confidence. We were surely due a good player sooner or later with all the three year deals on Sammon, Martin etc

Nonsesne it must be, never happened , now you sleep easy .

JON DALY revealed Hearts coaching team made Sean Clare a match winner by HAMMERING him at half-time.

Daly admitted Fox flew into a rage with timid Clare over his lack of a contribution during the opening period.

I actually love him.  Very unlucky not to score on Saturday (about an inch from it going) and he seems to be improving with every game.

Onwards and upwards! He'll be a cracking player for us over the next season or so :)

Dead chuffed for him to get another goal.

 they're so dramatic!

Here's the actual quote

Quote

Sean was slack and Foxy had a little pop at him. It’s great when you get a reaction from that. Foxy was a midfield player when he played and he understands the role quite well. So he had a nibble at Sean and asked when we would see something from him. He’s got the reaction he wanted. To be fair to Sean, when he first signed he wasn’t 100 per cent fit. He had an issue with his foot. He has probably played a lot more than we would have liked so far. He’s been thrown into situations he wouldn’t have been had we had a fully-fit squad. I think he is starting to look better and stronger. It’s clear for everyone to see he didn’t start the game well but he definitely came out with the bit between his teeth and he got us through to the next round.

Boom ?

I think Clare has the potential to be a stunning player for us, he is finding his feet in this league now and is understanding that u get no time on the ball to ***** around. He looks to be an intelligent player who could link up well with Naismith and given the opportunity will thrive going forward.

Indeed dramatic, bit like on here most of the time . TBF the quotes , go from flew into a rage to have a little pop .......... now depending on where your from, having a little pop , is as good as hammering into someone or equally could just be a lttle bit of nothing !

Superb goal. General performance showed improvement again, and (even without the excellent goal) he’s starting to justify his continued presence in the starting line up. A long, long way before people should even start predicting legendary status, but he is showing improvement and is really contributing, after weeks of being utter horse shit.

Keep it up, Sean!

The touch to beat his man at the goal was sublime, its such a Cliche but if Messi does that the media go into a frenzy. Cracking performance from a player who’s got a huge part to play in the rest of our campaign

Not sure why when this is a merged thread the other Sean Clare thread wasn’t merged but here’s my comments from after last Saturday’s game which I still fully stand by...

I’ve also just realised that soon we will see Uche Ikpeazu and Sean Clare in the same team for the first time!

A forward three of Uche, Naismith and Clare will be unstoppable.  Djoum and Haring tucked behind with Smith and Mitchell/Mulraney/Garrucio bombing down the wings.  Boom!

That’s a really well balanced front three.

Like it.

Where does he play in a starting 11 with a fully fit squad ?

Taking into consideration we only play with one up front.

His work rate is decent, made late cover tackle in our 18yd box against Dundee, so I’m going to say midfield, in the 3 of a 4-2-3-1 maybe?

it sounds like it has taken him 6 months to get over his injury and get used to playing in this team/league. Hopefully he keeps it up and keeps getting better.

3421 with him and Naismith in the AM roles behind Uche. If we are playing 3 atb.

Would agree with Leveins comments last night that anyone watching him reguarly would have seen slow but steady improvement week by week. He is now getting close to where we need him to be in terms of starting 11 performance IMO. Not quite the finished article but defo looks like he can operate at this level with more experience. Think he has been given fair crack of whip by hearts fans tbh and most criticism has been of playing him when not ready as opposed to his ability. His workrate is now noticable and refreshing to see which suggests he understands that part of his game. Not ITK but suspect Naismiths influence on him during the trg week is having an effect in all areas.

Sean Clare and some of the comments directed his way is proof most football supporters have no patience.

Clare was/is a project and needs time.....not constant criticism. Wighton is in the same position.

Jesus, Gashauskis - reading this makes me feel dizzy. We might actually be quite good at the end of an injury ridden season.

Even during his least effective outings,  there was always something to suggest that he had talent, a turn of pace or a piece of skill.

I couldn't understand those who couldn't see it and insisted that he offered nothing.

For those of us who went on record to big him up despite a slow start these are very happy days in fact it’s borderline smugness I’m feeling. More than anything however I’m just delighted for him, brilliant stuff..

As his fitness has improved he has gained pace. He always glided when he ran like a proper athlete but just lacked the half a yard. He now not only goes away from players but is great at closing down in the advanced position he was playing last night.

His goal against Livingston and last night is clear evidence of a player who has some class. He even has a reasonable dig on his left side making him somewhat two footed.

There is tremendous potential with this lad and I don’t think we have any idea how good he could be.

I sense playing alongside Naismith and Uche he could be very valuable in the coming few months.

And I can’t wait to see him after a full pre season.

Was unlucky to hit the post against st j with another great hit with his left peg. Even if he is two footed its a great sign of returning confidence if he’s pinging them in with both fe
