1st time starting a match thread so hopefully won’t be a jinx, sorry tart ?.  Time to put yesterday behind us and move on to the cup game on Wednesday. Hopefully have big Uche back for this, missed him yesterday, confident we will progress to the semis and earn a trip to Hampden. I will go with 3-1 but any win will do of course. ??❤️??❤️??

Motherwell will get 0 so that is a comfort.  0 is what teams get against us these days, particularly at Tynecastle.  Question is, will we also get 0 and go out on penalties.  Our history in this competition is nothing short of atrocious.

I'm going to be positive and say we won't be pissing about.  We'll be at them from the kick-off and I'm going 4-0 again.

Really important that CL instills a mentality that every game counts including this one.

Very frustrating to beat celric at home then fail to score against Livingston.

Good morale boosting win required and I'm confident.

A tough game but we'll win by the odd goal, 2-1.

Apart from the 1 conceded v St Midden but I like your thinking ??

                       Zlamal

           Smith Souttar Dunne

 Morrison      Haring     Mitchell

                  Lee     Djoum

            Naismith  Ikpeazu

This is the team I would like to see.

Haring maybe lucky to keep his place but hopefully Saturday was just a blip. And you can't drop the whole team!

Another option would be to put Dikamona into the back 3 and play Smith and Morrison as wing backs. Was really disappointed with Mitchell against Livi.

I would like to see Naismith further forward in a free role in support of Uche. We have plenty of midfield options and the Scotland games show he has plenty to offer as a striker.

Will be interesting to see if the manager rotates the squad to rest players for Saturday.

I do hope that some lessons have been learned from the dismal display against Livvy, don't play Naismith so deep, he's our top scorer ffs, if Uche isn't fit then naismith should be the one filling in for him, McLean is good but never a target man, Wighton was not physically suited to play against a team of cloggers like Livvy, and Mitchell must, must, must be played on the left.

After the performance of Lee and Haring you'd think Bozanic will be pushing for a start. Lee just doesn't do enough imo and is frequently on the edge of games. Saturday a prime example

This will be a really tough game. Motherwell are physical and a real threat.

I’d like us to go with something like:

                    Zlamal

Smith  Souttar Dunne Garuccio

Morrison Lee Haring Mitchell

                   Naismith

               Uche/Maclean

Huge game for Craig Levein on a personal level as well as Hearts as a club.

Has led us to a couple of 3rd place finishes, several memorable derby victories and 2 of our best ever European results away from home. The glaring omission is anything close in either cup. Only one semi final and that a pretty dismal effort at Hampden against Rangers.

The League Cup has been far from kind to us for decades but this season it represents a great opportunity given how tight things look between most of the teams early in the season. We’ve also got a home 1/4 final to take advantage of! The last few years our cup performances have been fairly rancid and it’s time to change that.

These chances don’t come around all the time and I’m sure CL is thinking exactly that. With the Old Firm both committed to 6 additional midweek fixtures during the time the League Cup plays out and whilst we have none, we should be all over this. I’ve been reading how people would rest and rotate players, I’d be playing our strongest possible lineup. Nobody should be needing rest right now, we’ve hardly played any football and they should all be raring to play in this match on Wednesday.

I really hope we are up for this from the first whistle, it’s a golden opportunity.

Like most on here I have other sporting interests and success there make Hearts successes even better.

In golf terms this is a great week.  Justin Rose being confirmed as world No1 and winning the Fedex Cup.  Ryder Cup in a few days.

On the back of Rose's fantastic achievement I need a convincing win over Motherwell.  Don't care who we get in the semi.  We can beat any of them.  Then I need a sparkling and dominating win against St Johnstone.  Kill this bogey stone dead.

Finally a Europe win and points dropped by any of hibs and the OF.

That's all.

Apropos of nothing in particular, new rangers haven't won an away league game since February.  That's according to one of their own on the bears den.  Mind you, we haven't won one either for over a week.

Some record that.  If Ayr booted them out of the league cup or livvy did them on Saturday I would be quite pleased.

Tough game but expect us in hat for semi final

Posted

I think rangers are more of a threat to our betfred cup campaign than the vermin or celtic. It would be nice to win it. It's long overdue.

Posted

I have a feeling Bozanic may get his chance. This will be toughie,  I’m going for a 2-0 win.  Hopefully a decent attendance and an improved display

Posted

Through on pens after another stuttering display with a hatful of missed chances. Hope for better though.

It will be a hard battling night.   Type of game uche will be essential for.

Also naismith in thr middle ahead of haring/lee.

Plus with celtics away record this season, all of a sudden St J away becomes a more open game.   This cup is still very open

Expect a tough game, but should have what it takes to be in the hat for the Semi - Final draw

Posted

I think we may go 3 at the back.

Dikamona

Souttar

Dunne

Morrison

Djoum

Bozanic

Lee

Mitchell

Naismith

Uche

2-0 us

Agreed, we need a bit of graft in there especially for the early battles, we have a habit of slow starts and that has been the case for a while, and is still apparent in a few games this season. The likes of Lee and Djoum are not really into the physical side and Morrison and Mitchell will go wide out of the battle zone, I am not saying these players should not be included but we need a balance. Like Livi, Well will be up for it, if we can come out flying against Celtic we can do it on Wednesday and will need to. Our players should be desperate to go to Hampden. It would be a new experience for them. Would like to see Clare on the bench ( if reasonably fit ), partly to let the regulars know their place is not guaranteed when he is 100% and partly to impact the game as a sub.

It'll be very tough. Motherwell have performed far better than we have in cups in recent times

Motherwell is always a tough game and I expect Wednesday to be no different.

I think a single goal or penalties will decide it.

For International Subscribers, yes

I think we'll go with the same team that played Motherwell last week;

Zlamal

Smith Souttar Dunne

Morrison Djoum Haring Lee Mitchell

Ikpeazu Naismith

2-0 Hearts, Uche and Mitchell, into the hat and off to Hampden.

Think we might see a couple of changes:

                      Zlamal

        Dikamona  Souttar Dunne

Morrison   Haring  Lee  Bozanic  Mitchell

                   Naismith

                      Uche

Looking at the league results, Livi are going much better than Motherwell at the moment. It doesn't matter though, any win is a good one in a cup game.

Is Clare fit and eligible for this?

Posted

Uche plays - we win

Uche out - we struggle

Hope Souttar can add to his crunching slide tackle montage by putting Curtis Main into the stands

If it's a draw does it go straight to penalties like the early rounds or after 30 mins ?

I'd settle for that. It seems that 3 at the back means Mitchell plays on the left and Garuccio is on the bench but I  prefer when they both play. Also Garuccio takes a mean free kick.

Morrison must start.

Important we get back to winning ways. It’s a great opportunity for us to have a trip to Hampden.

After the disappointment of the 2 points lost to Livingston, I’m hoping the team are fired up and determined to win on Wednesday.

To be honest, the big changes for me would be Uche in for Wighton and Morrison in for Garuccio’. Otherwise I think maybe Bozanic in for Haring and Harry in for Olly Lee to freshen up the midfield.

Oor Wullie hasn't been too bad lately. I'd be more concerned if it were Madden or Thomson.

Cup tie, one objective, be in the draw for the next round. So although I wouldn't say no to a healthy, large victory I'll be happy with a 1-0 win.

We´re a superior outfit. After the near earth shattering world and life ending draw which never actually amounted to much in the end after killie beating celtic, let´s get back to the winning life. 2-0 hearts.

Since we came back up they've had five goes at us at Tynecastle and scored 1 goal. They might be no mugs but we have no reason to fear them at home.

2-0.

1-0 da jambos with dunne  looking the most likely to score. Would settle for a comfortable 2-0 though ;) Agree with Morrison on the right at the start and Naismith further up front
