StrikersInstinct
Translated from Icelandic newspaper Bladid this morning: AZ Alkmaar to launch Jonsson bid? Dutch club AZ Alkmaar have Icelandic prospect Eggert Gunn??r J?nsson on their radar and have had him watched regulary this season. Barry van Galen, a former player at AZ Alkmaar and now a scout at the club, told Icelandic newspaper Bladid yesterday that he has been over to Scotland to watch J?nsson on several occasions this season. ?(Eggert) J?nsson is a interesting player for the future. I?ve seen him play several times this season, both for Hearts and Iceland and we (AZ) are impressed,? said Galen who reitered that there is a long way from watching a player to making a formal bid. ?We?ve had no contact with Hearts, and we have not talked to J?nsson, absolutely not, but in the future, maybe. We are always on the look out for quality young players and J?nsson certainly falls into that category. We?ll continue monitoring him,? said Galen. J?nsson is currently negotiating a new contract at Hearts.

Gerd Muller
Now that Jonsson has signed a new contract, hopefully this means he won't be able to leave on the cheap.

ToadKiller Dog
There are stories in the icelandic pres almost every week about clubs looking at the lad. They can look all they like until there is a bid made its just speculation. think eggerts going to be a star but there are a lot of rough edges to be taken off him yet. Colonel Kurtz
Its not really a new contract...his new pay structure kicks in when a "number of games" threshold is reached. Be prepared for Charlie and The Boys spinning this soon to detract our attention from the lack of transfer window activity or manager appointment. To be fair, it would be a tough ask to bring in a better player with more potential than Eggert in the transfer window.
