Best of luck to the lad, I really hope everyones missed something here and he scores for fun for Swansea. The Scottish Championship is an awful level, Stevie May, Cummings and many more have blown clubs away at that level but not actually really carried that form over when they've went down south.

Sincerely hope he hits the ground running so Mcleish might have options for striker for the national side

No you're right enough , I just would have like him to get more games. We could really do with him now to be fair.

I liked him for his attitude and workrate, I wish we could bottle that. I'm not sure he'd make much difference just now, but he's a funny one- I do have to agree we played better when he was in the team, mostly because of the space he created with his movement when attacking, and how much he harassed defences when they had the ball, but he neither created nor finished chances to any great extent with us.

For new players, I can accept most signings, because you never know how a player will work out. For contract renewals and players we already know in maroon I have a different process- is this a player I can see in a league winning squad? With Reilly, I'm afraid not.

We have a squad that tells me we should never take a punt on any player - remember that Bikey lad, FFS scored goals for fun at a much lower level.

We never took a punt though. As I recall it cost us nothing to have him here after he decided Hibs were shite.. He spent a bit of time 'on trial' for want of a better phrase, being signed as an amateur. It didnt work out and both parties went their seperate ways.

Any arrangement along those lines isnt really a punt.

Btw I’ve watched him a few times and I’m not sure if he’ll make the step up.

Are we still game to sign wingers?

If Budge rifles her ISA we could end the season as victors and nothing Bobby can do to stop us

Looks like a good player. The type we’re missing.

A winger that actually creates chances

:vrwow:

Ayr have randomly built a really good team. Loads of guys that were released from prem clubs put together and working really well. If they don't get promoted their team is just going to get ripped apart.

Who knows if we went for him or not but even if we did, Swansea will no doubt be offering 3 or 4 times more than what we can offer. Moult got £13k pw apparently when he went to Preston. No way we can compete with that.

Tbh I’ve never really seen much from him til the Utd game and I’m not sure if that was partly down to how bad Utd were.

Another goal? Impressive stuff. How many is that in the top flight for him now?

Loads and likely to score more.

We should hire a hindsight coach. Levein out for not having the hindsight to hire a hindsight coach 👍

Don’t understand why some are desperate to have a go at this lad. He can only score against what’s put in front of him.

Personally, it's because I'm sick of the implied and actual criticism of Hearts and Levein that's accompanied any Shankland chat in recent months.

He's not a Hearts player so **** him

Fans speculate over potential signings all the time. Don’t get why some on here almost take it as a personal insult every time the lad scores a goal.

It's boring everytime he scores this thread pops up with certain posters having a go at the club.

He hasnt signed. Nobody knows why we didnt go for him, but given he ended up in the same league as last season, there cant be many teams confident he can make the step up. People need to move on!

Why do you think no one else has signed him either?

Off to get my phone checked. Just came up that Shankland missed a penalty. Must be broken.

He scored 2, but hey it's only the championship.

I assume he has an easy get out clause in his contract? He will hit 30 plus in that league.

I get why ppl, on here and presumably other clubs forums, go on about this, but Lawrence Shankland chose Dundee United.

“When I spoke to the club and the manager, the way they were speaking for my personal development and the way the club wants to go, it just suited me at this time in my career.

“I had a lot to think about but this was the best place for me.”

Perhaps he needed a bit of contractual freedom, that higher up clubs can't give.

Apparently Sunderland also wanted him, but he turned them down.

He wants to play and play for a team where he knows he will be first choice.

Remember Nicky Clark scoring shit loads for QoS and just being ok elsewhere.

A good question. This is from our friends in the East, but I'm sure most club forum's have similar threads.

Maybe we tried but the non financial side of the package didn't suit.....

He's got a 3 year deal at Utd and they should be promoted this season so if he stays, we'll find out next season if he's easy a 20 goals a season player.

That is fair enough but the teams he is scoring against are not much worse than the bottom six in the SPL. Even if he struggled against the Old Firm he would have scored against the rest as his current stats show. He has 9 for the season already playing for Dundee Utd. Can you imagine what he would score for us? However this is all nonsense as he is not our player and we should move on.

I see the old 'top level goals' being mentioned. He's got a good goals to game ratio against premiership teams in cups.

We are just doomed to be told how fantastic he is until the end of time. Incredible what a fuss is made over a lad we didn't sign. Makes a change from whinging about the ones we did sign I suppose.

I see Tino Kadewere has scored 8 goals in 5 matches for Le Havre in Ligue 2 in France. Why on earth didn’t we sign him in the summer? 🤬 Guaranteed to score at least 20 in the SPL!
