And wearing hard hats, like that would offer them any protection if they fell.

Had a direct blood ancestor who lived and died in one of the houses which were knocked down to make way for the Kings, old maps show that there used to be a brewery in amongst that jumble of buildings.

They chimney in the old photo is Drumdryan Brewery.

It's amazing how they could demolish what's in the first photo and put up a building like the King's in two years.

I lived at Forrester Park back in the day. Ventured up to the Silver Wing once and quickly ventured out again...

Was that the pub that had the lounge decked out like the inside of a 'plane? On the Calder Road.

I used to go in the Busy Bee Friday lunchtime with colleagues from tax office government buildings at Broomhouse it was always okay but seemingly at night it was ruff as feck

Me too! If payday was a Friday , take a half day and finish up at Diggers, in a total mess. Happy days.

The Gauntlet, on the other hand....

The Sighthill was a bloody barn of a place.

It was. Never liked it. The Silver Wing or the Dodger much better pubs.

Thats the wee newsagents/bogs that used to be outside the centre at Wester Hailes. For some reason there were steps where you could climb up at the back and you could stand on the roof like some sort of veiwing platform.

Funnily enough I was up there the other day for the first time in years and it seems to be a library there now which is good. The centre though... Post Office, Greggs, Farmfoods, Iceland, chemist, bookies and a charity shop... pretty much everything else closed. Soul destroying depressing place.

Also, turns out I know one of the guys listed at the end. Usually meet up with him when I'm back and always has shitloads of old pics on his iPad.

There's one shot on that video of the St. Cuthbert's store on the corner of Nicholson Street. Anyway, at the top was the very first club I ever went to, called the Attic. Went there because an r&b band called the Embers, made up of guys from James Clark's Academy, ;) played regularly there.

Anybody still awake? :(
