Indras the elephant at Leith Public Library in January 1976 as part of a campaign to remind people to return their books.

An elephant interrupts a table of readers in a library building

100%. The pics on this thread are something else. I particularly like the ones of the late 70's and through the 80's.

Have you seen the vid on Youtube of the old trains going through Edinburgh?

Anyone know when this was demolished? I can only ever remember a gap site there.

This is supposed to be from 1972, so about then I suppose.

Early to mid 70s. There was billboards saying it was going to be the site of the BBC Hq in Scotland.

The BBC obviously changed their minds and it became the Omni centre.

The contract lasted many years as it was still in place in the 90's and possibly beyond. The bus (sometimes two) would take the kids down to Goldenacre for some type of sporting activities.

Yep - I used to get them in the 80’s...rugby was always last period for the different years so used to get the bus down to Goldenacre, rugby for an hour and then home from there- worked well for me living in Newhaven not do much for mates that lived the other end of the town !!

Rossie place looking towards Easter Road, I'd guess late 19th/ early 20th century. I grew up in Maryfield in the Abbeyhill colonies, shown on the left.
