Cheers, always wondered where about on Boswall Parkway The Embassy was

Never re-opened after a fire

No, now a block of flats there, after several supermarkets.

That's the Embassy on Boswall Parkway at the corner of Pilton Drive North. What was Royston Primary school( my first school in 1968) to left of that picture after St Margaret Mary's church and convent. Granton Primary school approx 300 metres to the right.

A perfectly concise description that.
Can you remember the name of the supermarket that was built on the site? I’ve got William Low in my head but not sure.

Thank you Maroon Sailor ,pub door just on the left hand side of the top picture ,  I poured my first pint in there when I was 5 years old , strangely to a CID officer who had come in just after the pub had shut for the afternoon ( the old licensing hours) with his partner asking my dad if they’d seen a couple of gentlemen they were looking for . I remember it as his colleague said I’d poured a better pint than my mum had for him 😂😂

A different guy Bob , although we did have a keeper and there was a writer for the post of the same name ( keeper may even have played for Queen’s Park ?)

Yes I just wondered if like some did he bought  a pub as a safety net if the other job went belly up. I realise you weren't ribbing me.😇

The corn exchange wasn’t owned by an ex football player, only pub my dad managed for an ex football player was the Dukes Head owned by ex rangers player Jimmy Millar , who he was best of pals with

That’s a cracking picture , I was watching the 39 Steps ( Kenneth More) the other day and that amount of bridge wasn’t even there when the film was in South Queensferry

Granton Road

Kicking myself for not spotting that was Granton Road, Games field at Wardie for Broughton School for me 1966 -72 then played for Broughton FP 1974 -1983 until injury scuppered my less than distinguished rugby career. Must have driven up & down that road hundreds of times.

Why did shops stop using the sunshade/raincover things they all had back then?
