Would it be this Alistair Hood who passed away in 06

Yes thats him. I knew him when at Boroughmuir, his father was an employee at Goagarburn, and we used to put teams together to play there. He was  couple of years older than I but the nicest person you could meet.  He had a good career, and although we never talked about it both had a career highlighty by being selected to attend the F.B.I. National Academy

I was long removed from Edinburgh but knew a couple of guys who worked that detail. Charlie Bowman who had a medal from the Pope, and Alan Stirling whom I met out here he was one of the motor cycle escort. Alan died here in Kelowna a few months ago,

I used to know the police safety officer at Tynecastle early 90's. Jimmy Johnstone based at Torphichen Street. Suspect he would have got advice from Mr Hood

It doesn’t look like a Mensa convention.

Here's the story behind this

Pennywell Gardens One Resident Remains

Most of the houses at Pennywell are now empty, awaiting demolition.  In this block at the eastern end of Pennywell Gardens, there was just one resident remaining when the photo was taken on December 14, 2006.

The occupant was Stanley Lawson, aged 69, living in his one-bedroom ground floor flat.  He has refused to accept alternative accommodation.

This block will have to be demolished to allow a replacement for Craigroyston High School to  be built.

Eviction

After barricading himself in his home for five months, Stanley Lawson was taken by surprise when sheriff officers arrived at his home at 9am on April 4 2007, to evict him.

They took possession of his home.

That pub on the corner of Constitution street and Queen Charlotte street was known as the Copper Top back in 1972 when I started in The Bank of Scotland diagonally opposite

Whats going on here?

I remember i was walking my dogs up Arthur's Seat and looking over and the mushroom cloud of smoke with flames was apocalyptical and after a while grey bits of ash started falling down even at that distance and i figured it was time to head home and hide under a table with a few tins of beans.
